The Alice Salomon Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences - in Berlin, Germany, offers the postgraduate program Master of Arts in Social Work as a Human Rights Profession (MA-SWHR).

The Master of Arts Degree in International Law and Human Rights Degree offers students an in-depth review of the procedures and practice of international human rights bodies, at the global and UN level as well as at the regional level. Students will gain an understanding of the various judicial and non-judicial bodies that are at the frontline of questions of interpretation, the development of international human rights standards, and enforcement. In addition, students receive training in hands-on skills in the realm of reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of human rights. Finally, as the globalization of business and investment is increasing in force and speed, with important human rights implications, this specialization explores the interaction between economics and rights, asking critical questions about this process and potential solutions.

Do you want to influence media development in line with democratic principles and human rights? This master’s program enables you to become an active agent in media development in an international context.

The Mas­ters Pro­gram­ in Go­ver­nan­ce and Hu­man Rights con­nects the theo­ry of sci­ence with its practical application. In se­ven mo­du­les, the stu­dents will learn to ana­ly­ze and un­der­stand le­gal and po­li­ti­cal theo­ries of governance and in­ter­na­tio­nal and re­gio­nal human rights regimes and how they are in­ter­re­la­ted.

This training combines IRIS's expertise in strategic and geopolitical analysis with the experience of NGOs and recognized international solidarity actors. It responds to the major changes that this sector is experiencing (from emergency response to contributing to sustainable development goals), with the increasing complexity of intervention contexts, the emergence of new actors, and the introduction of new qualitative standards. Today, professionals in the sector must master not only the operational dimension, but also the tactical and especially strategic dimension of programs. This training combines IRIS's expertise in strategic and geopolitical analysis with the experience of NGOs and recognized international solidarity actors. It aims to develop the knowledge and skills at the heart of the humanitarian manager's profession. These are acquired by working on projects in partnership with actors in the humanitarian and development sectors. Since 2014, some forty organizations have already submitted around sixty projects to the students. The training is delivered in person with a common core combined with three specialties and remotely through blended learning.
