The Millwright Foundation Program consists of 24 weeks of foundation training and a 3 week (90 hour) practicum requirement and will provide the skills required for students to obtain level 1 technical training.

The 16-week distance learning Certificate in Heavy Lift provides the key principles involved in Heavy Lift Operations and knowledge of how a heavy lift project works in practice.

The Mechanical Engineering field of study is intended for the first-cycle graduates who wish to expand their knowledge of basic engineering subjects and develop an interdisciplinary, systemic approach to solving technical problems, the ability to use modern tools of computer-aided design, manufacturing, operation and recycling processes in the field of vehicles and construction machinery.

This program consists of the SkilledTrades – Heavy Mechanical Trades – Foundation training and a 2-week, mandatory work experience placement. There are four mechanical trades paths introduced in this program.

This Heavy Duty Equipment - Motive Power Technician program, which is based on the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprenticeship curriculum standards, will prepare you for an exciting career as a skilled professional in the heavy duty equipment field — one of the economy's largest industries. The theoretical knowledge you'll gain in the Heavy Duty Equipment Motive Power Technician courses, combined with the hands-on experience in state-of-the-art labs, will give you an ideal start to a fulfilling career. The program's focus will be on applied mechanics and vehicle dynamics as well as component design and repair. Centennial College will offer exclusive courses such as Logistics and Hoisting and Rigging while also incorporating courses in business, English, and general education. Upon completion, you'll be able to seek employment in many different areas of the heavy-duty industry, such as an apprenticeship in a repair facility, administrative/managerial roles, and with parts departments/suppliers. Because the program is based on the Heavy Duty Equipment apprenticeship curriculum standards, you'll meet the requirements for levels 1 and 2 of in-school apprenticeship training. Co-op Option The program's co-op option will provide you with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while you work one term as a paid employee in the field. This Diploma in Heavy Lift and Project Cargo Operations development course from North Kent College (NKC) in partnership with Lloyd’s Maritime Academy (LMA) is designed for personnel wishing to build comprehensive knowledge and skills in this specialised marine transport field.

The Diesel Technology Program provides a well-rounded education in the service and repair of trucks and heavy equipment related to areas including farming, logging, marine, locomotive, and construction. Students learn theory in shop practice, diesel engines, safety, hydraulics, DC electrical systems and microcomputers, power trains, brakes, and chassis and suspension. Students learn comprehensive safety training applicable to the work environment. Employment opportunities are available with a wide variety of diverse companies including trucking, logging, mining, construction, general and specialty repair shops, dealerships, and government agencies including the park service, the state, county shops, city shops, and other state and federal agencies.

This program provides training that prepares students to set up and operate machining equipment, handle inspection devices, analyze production problems, and move into the supervision of machining. Students obtain a strong background in machining, engineering graphics, computers (CAD/CAM/CNC), quality control/quality assurance, material handling and processing, and leadership skills. The program provides a balance between practical training in manufacturing processes and technical education in manufacturing analysis, planning, and control with a supporting emphasis on communications, mathematics, science, and business.

Industrial Maintenance-Millwright Technology prepares students for work in industrial mills. This is a multi-skilled trade that uses areas of fabrication, electronics, electrical systems, automation, computers, hydraulics, PLCs, and mechanical systems. Conveyor systems, power distribution, and service to all sorts of automated equipment are taught. Rigging, mechanical drive systems, installation and alignment of equipment, and pumps are taught. The Millwright program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment as apprentice technicians, with emphasis on practical experience in both theory and laboratory settings using lab equipment and assemblies similar to equipment found in the industry.

Machining tools and techniques are evolving as the manufacturing industry grows and adapts to new technology. This two-semester Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares mechanical engineers and machinists to respond to the modern manufacturing industry.
