‘Health, Ageing and Society’ is the new name for the Master’s Vitality and Ageing. We are ready for change – are you?! The name reflects the broad contents of the study and it better reflects what the programme stands for. Approximately 150 students have graduated since the start of the programme in 2016. Are you passionate about physical activity, ageing, health and sports? And would you like to know more about how exercise and nutrition influences health, performance and disease? Then Human Movement Sciences could just be the programme for you. It covers all aspects of the relationship between physical activity and health – from patients trying to get better, to individuals just trying to stay fit, to top athletes aiming for the pinnacle of their sport. The programme offers a great deal of variety, with courses covering themes as diverse as nutrition, muscle & brain function, energy production and metabolic profiling. Because of this variety of courses and an individual 4-5 month research-driven internship/placement, you can pursue your own interests within the programme. Upon graduation, you will be well-prepared to work as a researcher, product developer, exercise scientist or trainer at, for example, a rehabilitation institute or a major sporting club.

Health by Design is a graduation track of the Master of Arts in Fine Art & Design at Avans. During the two-year programme, you co-design with students from various disciplines in practice-led design research. And in art thinking projects in health and wellbeing. As a health designer, you'll develop intellectual and practical skills to achieve a transdisciplinary and co-design approach. Adding value to complex health and wellbeing challenges, and propelling your career in a rapidly evolving field.

The Core Course in Public Health and Health Equity is a 3 months course that prepares you to systematically analyse and address complex public health issues, covering epidemiology, health system aspects, and broader social determinants of health. The course focuses on health equity in low-resource settings and high-resource settings with disadvantaged populations. It can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of the Master of Science in Public Health and Health Equity. It forms also part of the post-graduate training programme for physicians leading to a diploma as MD Global Health (AIGT).

Planning and programming are major components of programme management by any health system actor such as governments, national and international non-governmental organisations and the private sector: being able to plan well and set up effective programmes is a key competence of any health programme manager and health sector consultant.

Do you want to get people moving healthily again? Then the International Physiotherapy Programme (IPP) might be right up your street.
