Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSOM) was established to improve the quality of medical education in the Republic of Kazakhstan and to contribute to the transformation of the health care system required to meet the challenges of the health care reform of the country. It will offer the Republic’s first U.S.-style curriculum, taught in English by a diverse faculty of clinicians and biomedical scientists recruited from around the globe.

This program aims to train competent public health professionals, public health leaders with strategic, analytical, and systems thinking and assessment skills who can demonstrate the ability to develop and effectively manage health care policies.

The program's purpose is to train and retrain professionally qualified nursing specialists in demand in the labor market of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Qualifications and positions are determined under the Qualification Reference Book of the Positions of Managers, Specialists, and Other Employees by the approved order of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan: Pharmacist-technologist; Process engineer; Lecturer; junior researcher; Director of operations.

The Master’s program in Food Biotechnology combines a Master’s program at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan, and Master’s program at ISA Lille, France. It creates opportunities to gain more international knowledge and experience in food science, bioprocesses, and technologies of food manufacture.

The two-year Master of Public Health (MPH) degree offered in the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine is based on the highest international standards. As an offering of the School of Medicine, we provide additional highly-qualified faculty, and teaching and research resources not found in MPH programs outside of medical schools.

The Master program in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is a two-year degree that will equip the graduates with theoretical as well as hands-on knowledge in the said field. The program’s focus on research will help the graduates to develop analytical skills, promoting excellence as well as innovation in healthcare practice. The long-term goal of this initiative is to promote the evidence-based practice of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in Kazakhstan.

Our four years Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences has been designed to generate a new generation of researchers, who will shape research in Kazakhstan and on the international level. It addresses highly motivated students, who want to be part of a research community working on finding causes and treatments for a variety of different diseases. Our School has strong ties to the hospitals around Nur-Sultan and is therefore in an ideal position as a link between bench and bedside. Our researchers are working on various topics among them cancer, inflammatory and infectious diseases.

Nazarbayev University School of Medicine offers a premiere, state-of-the-art undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program that integrates international education, training, and qualifications for both the European Union standards and the U.S. requirements for baccalaureate education for professional nursing practice.

The program aims to train new generation managers for the social and business sectors, possessing modern technologies and management tools in the healthcare sector, possessing professional and scientific competence, comprehensive fundamental education, and leadership qualities.

The main goal of the educational program is the development of doctoral students in the issues of modern diagnostic research, veterinary and sanitary measures, preventing the introduction of especially dangerous and exotic diseases from abroad.

Educational program Technology of food products are aimed at training highly qualified, competitive personnel, improving the quality of knowledge, forming a multi-level system of research activities following the urgent needs of modern education and science.

The educational program "Psychology" is aimed at training specialists in practical and social psychology with psychological diagnosis and consultation skills. A specialist in experimental psychology works in psychological centres, private companies, public and non-profit organizations, conducts personal practical activities, etc.

The Bachelor in Nursing program is a full-time, undergraduate course of study providing professional qualification after two years (four semesters) of study, leading to the completion of the academic degree of “Bachelor in Nursing.” Eligible nurses who meet admission criteria and successfully complete this program will have conferred upon them the Bachelor in Nursing academic degree.

Biomedical Engineering is a relatively new field that bridges the traditional disciplines of engineering and Medicine. Examples of Biomedical engineering contributions are the development of pacemakers, high-tech machinery for blood dialysis, and systems for medical imaging through X-ray or magnetic resonance tomography.
