Learn the fundamentals of applied behavior analysis (ABA) while gaining valuable experience applying and evaluating its principles and methods in a supervised setting. In the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate program, you will complete 18 credit hours of coursework and nine credit hours of supervised practicum.

This certificate program will provide a sequence of coursework based on a three-tier service delivery model consistent with requirements of federal and state law. Students will have the knowledge and skills to provide support to students with intensive behavioral needs, provide leadership to their schools, serve as “coaches” in supporting school implementation in their schools.

The Autism and Behavioural Sciences program will provide you with theory and hands-on experience to work with the principles and practices of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA); specifically, in the application of ABA to Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The curriculum covers the range of evidence-based practices in autism treatment, the characteristics of ASD as well as child development and augmentative communication systems.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neuro-developmental disorder that affects 1 in 66 individual in Canada. ASD can affect an individual’s ability to communicate, socially interact and will often engage in repetitive/ restricted behaviours. ASD is a spectrum therefore the degree to which an individual experiences these challenges will vary.
