6 Global Studies Degree Programs in Canada

Our world is rapidly globalizing, bringing exciting opportunities and daunting challenges. Global and International Studies, hereafter referred to as Global Studies, seeks to tackle this brave new world in all its complexity. We train students to be global citizens, global thinkers, and global problem-solvers, and prepare them for global careers in academia, business, government, and the non-profit sector, among others.

In Huron’s Centre for Global Studies students confront problems of global inequalities, explore forms of globalization at human scales, and analyse the concepts, ideas, and cultural work ordering of life in this world. Students learn to critically locate themselves in global power relations and practical ways in which they may take responsibility for their positions of privilege.

Prairie’s Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies – Global Social Justice (GSJ) major provides a firm grounding in the theories, methods, and practice of social justice involvement, providing the student with the ideal combination of knowledge and skills to successfully continue to master’s level study or obtain entry-level employment in this sector.

The University of Prince Edward Island is excited to partner with Madrid's Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) to deliver a joint one-year Master in Global Affairs program. The Master in Global Affairs program has a proven track record at URJC for developing students with the knowledge, insights, and talents needed to help address and solve some of the most critical challenges facing our world.

This program will not only develop your ability to think globally, it will also enrich your sense about how to navigate the complexities of human life, find meaningful solutions to perennial problems, and inspire others to do the same. Prospective students are advised that offers of admission to a new program may be made only after the university’s own quality assurance processes have been completed and the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance has approved the program.

Huron wants all of our students to be able to explore their unique interests in ways that nurture their individual gifts. By creating different avenues, beyond the standard curriculum, for students to extend their learning, we are better preparing to apply their knowledge in active and transformative ways within their local and global communities.
