The programme of Master of Science in Applied Geographic Information Systems (hereafter MSc in Applied GIS), a single-degree coursework Master’s programme hosted in the Department of Geography at NUS, is designed to reflect the cutting-edge technologies and latest developments in GIS and its applications with the reputation of NUS Geography as one of the top 10 geography departments around the world.

The foci of the Geography Department's research activities include, but are not exclusive to the geography of UAE and the Arab world, urbanization and transportation, population growth, globalization, global climate change, resource management, water resources, agricultural and manufacturing activities, the geography of crime and health services, spatial and analytical techniques necessary to understand them and using the new tools of geography, Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems.

Our international undergraduate program in Environmental Geography at the Faculty of Geography is committed to becoming a centre of excellence in geography and environmental science, achieving international academic standards. We aim to provide high-quality education, foster groundbreaking research and offer impactful community service, addressing environmental issues at both local and global levels.

Geography is one of the subjects that Marlborough offers throughout the Prep School and Senior School and forms part of the Humanities department and is part of ‘Individuals and Societies’ (Group 3) option for the IB Diploma. One of the benefits of Geography is its multi-disciplinary nature which examines, links and supports many concepts and ideas from other subject areas. The main aim of the department is to develop pupils’ skills such as critical thinking, data analysis and extended writing.

The purpose of the proposed program is to prepare an expert at the academic level of a qualified master of the second level of education, to give a broad and systematic knowledge in physical geography.

The forerunner of the Universitas Jember came from the idea of dr. R. Achmad together with R. Th. Soengedi and RM Soerachman who aspire to establish a university in Jember. To realize these goals on April 1, 1957, the three of them formed a committee which was named Triumviraat Committee with the composition of the Chairperson dr. R. Achmad; Author R. Th. Soengedi, and Treasurer RM Soerachman.

The graduate receives an academic degree - a bachelor of education in "Social Pedagogy and Self-Knowledge" and can work in state structures, social institutions, educational institutions of state and non-state funding, institutions related to the problems of upbringing and development of the younger generation.
