An MScAgric degree in Animal breeding and genetics offers students the opportunity to investigate livestock populations on either quantitative or molecular level. It combines population genetics and genetic improvement of livestock to improve the efficiency of production in farm animals. This program focusses mainly on the genetic diversity and evaluation of large and small stock, with an emphasis on welfare traits and sustainable farming. Projects in this program offer opportunities for inter disciplinary research.

In this doctoral programme, the thesis research should provide the most current information, knowledge and applications in the field of genetics. Nowadays, the key to a problem affecting neurons, cells and/or cancer can lie in cellular and genetic research.

The graduate masters the basic methodology of molecular biology and genetics, gene engineering, population genetics, and microscopy, which is able to practice, apply and interpret in research, clinical practice, or education. The graduate has a general overview of the basic statistical methods used in the evaluation of the results. The graduate demonstrated the ability of independent, creative, and team scientific work, can process and interpret the results, and is able to present these results at the scientific forum in Czech and English. The graduate is fully acquainted with the rules of ethics of scientific work, rules, and ethics associated with the interpretation of results, handling of patients' data, and work with genetically modified organisms (GMO), principles of animal protection against cruelty, and working in harmony with them.

FFWD-Plants focuses on quantitative genetics methods, including population genetics and marker-trait association studies, to discuss ways in which the discovery and use of agrobiodiversity can be accelerated for crop improvement. The host of FFWD-Plants is the group of Translational Plant Genomics at Scuola Sant'Anna, which will provide the core training in the course. 

Topics include mutation, gene transfer and genetic analysis in bacteria, DNA cloning, comparative genomics, and phenotype-genotype associations in microbial genomes. Discoveries and methodologies in microbial genetics underlie all aspects of modern biology, and therefore, this paper is directly relevant for students with an interest in any of the biological sciences.

The Master in Genomics and Genetics aims to satisfy the demand for university training, within the SUG, in theoretical and experimental biology, veterinary medicine, food technology, pharmacy, forestry-agriculture and the environment, which represents an opportunity for / the students who require more training in frontiers of knowledge and technology in the life sciences in the Autonomous Community of Galicia.

PhD by research via Distance Learning is awarded after successfully completing a theoretical research specialization. This research is presented in the form of a doctoral thesis. The main requirement for a PhD online through distance learning is to present and discuss a thesis of at least 100 pages for review and evaluation by an academic committee at Selinus University. And can we use DNA to predict our health? Both twin studies and molecular genetic studies have highlighted the influence of our genetic code on behavior and health. To adequately understand and influence behavior and health, we need to increase our knowledge of the way our genes play their part, by themselves and when interacting with our environment.

Further study in the major subject/s, augmented by ancillary modules prescribed by the Postgraduate Studies Committee, on the recommendation of the head of department. Such ancillary modules may be taken simultaneously with the major subject/s. Candidates in possession of the BScAgricHons degree may be exempted from additional ancillary modules.

The progress of all master's candidates is monitored biannually by the supervisor and the postgraduate coordinator. A candidate's study may be terminated if the progress is unsatisfactory or if the candidate is unable to finish his/her studies during the prescribed period.

You will learn about the use of biotechnology in areas such as health care, veterinary medicine, agriculture, and the environment.

Future livestock models must be based on sustainability, within the framework of competitive production systems that are respectful of animal welfare. Animal genetic improvement not only contributes to the sustainability of productions and increases their profitability, but also allows, through new technologies, to improve their efficiency and adapt them to the divergent demand of consumers. Thus, population and quantitative genetics, molecular genetics and reproductive biotechnology are currently basic subjects in livestock development.
