This inspiring and interdisciplinary master's program from Linnaeus Universityis designed for those passionate about peace, development and international development co-operation. It explores the relationship between poverty, conflicts and sustainable development, and considers political room formanoeuvre for change.Students will analyze current research along with practical work carried out by international institutions, non-governmental organisations and social movements. When working on the final thesis, students may work together with an organization or conduct a field study in a developing country, providing the opportunity to discuss how development issues can be solved in real politics.

The Master of Science in Global Studies is an interdisciplinary social science Master’s programme which aims to provide you with knowledge of globalisation, conflict and social change. This involves an understanding of theories connected to processes of globalisation and transformation as analysed through various disciplinary frameworks. The programme presents major cultural, economic, political and socio-psychological theories and concepts to enable you to make informed, comparative analyses of how globalisation is linked to conflict and social change. Previous students have, for example, undertaken internship placements at embassies and at international NGOs, private companies and the public sector.

You will take core courses in how CSR and Knowledge Management are relevant for marketing, human resources and accounting before specialising in one of these three areas of study. The capstone of your 10-month study period will be a thesis project in which you examine how a specific real-world research problem relates to one of the focus areas of the program.

Taught entirely online, this programme will advance your understanding of how state, nation, citizenship and political culture are influenced by today’s contradicting developments in terms of globalisation, transnational integration and national fragmentation processes.
