6 Forestry Degree Programs in Italy

This PhD programme aims at providing talented and motivated students with in-depth research skills that will allow them to tackle relevant agricultural and environmental problems in mountain areas. Students will have the chance to join a range of training opportunities, seminars and conferences and to work under the guidance of supervisors within international research teams.

The Ph.D. program in Sustainable Management of Agricultural Forestry and Food Resources builds upon the long term experience in research and teaching of the Department of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Forestry (DAGRI) of the University of Florence.

Global Forestry (GLOFOR) is a two-year English language world-class Erasmus Mundus MSc programme that prepares graduates to deal with forestry’s tremendous contemporary challenges and potentials in dealing with the problems of biodiversity protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the development of a circular bio-economy.

The Master’s degree offers a comprehensive, innovative, and international perspective on forest and natural resource management and conservation. The programme provides a thorough understanding of forest ecosystem functioning, skills for sustainable and responsible management of forests and rural landscapes, and the ability to interpret complex socio-ecological systems. It also equips students with the capacity to identify innovative solutions for environmental management, addressing major local and global environmental challenges.

The 1st Cycle Degree Course (Bachelor Degree) in Environmental and Forest Sciences aims at educating professional people, providing them with a strong general knowledge, general theoretic, concrete basics, specialized competence and practical concepts. It enables them to tackle different issues related to the environmental and forest sector, and in particular the production, processing and management of forest, the farming and woodland resources, the land and environment protection within the symbiotic relationship between plants and environment.

The 2nd Cycle Degree Course (Master Degree) in Environmental and Forest Sciences represents the logical extension of the homonymous 1st Cycle Course (Bachelor Course), Class L25. The main goal of the Course is to provide professional forest graduates with enhanced skills in strategic planning and management and with the technical, cultural, and management instruments necessary to operate in the fields of protection, conservation and monitoring of forest, pastoral and faunal resources, woodland protection from wildfires, soil protection and conservation, territory ecological planning and the establishment of low environmental impact operations aimed at protecting and enhancing mountain and hillslope areas.
