The Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer Degree provides students with a strong foundation in the terminology and principles of the visual arts, two-and threedimensional design, and an introduction to various techniques and media. Topics also explored include the relationship between form and content, historical and contemporary approaches to art and art-making, and personal expression.

In this program, you’ll grow your passion and appreciation for art, while completing the foundational courses required to transfer to a four-year university, college or art school. You’ll develop your artistic skills and techniques through faculty instruction and hands-on studio work in ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking or sculpture.

Emerson College’s MFA in Popular Fiction Writing and Publishing is one of the first online, asynchronous programs designed to help students craft professional-level stories and novels. The Associate Degree in Fine and Applied Arts offers a wide variety of courses to acquaint students with the creation of and performance in the arts from a global perspective. The courses in this area examine the nature of the fine and applied arts through analysis, synthesis, composition, performance, and technical development. Students will develop techniques appropriate to the art form, engage in the production and performance of the arts, examine aesthetic valuing, and participate in creative expression. This area of emphasis is designed for students interested in exploring various art forms, including digital media, creative writing, dance, film, graphic design, music, photography, communication studies, television, theatre, video, and the visual arts.

The MA in Fine Arts can be completed with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting. This degree program provides students with the creative and technical skills needed to thrive in today’s art world. Students will leave with professional-level portfolios and an understanding of the business of art.

The BFA in Art Education and Fine Art (Double Major) program provides a pathway to becoming an art teacher in classrooms, museums and community-based art programs. Through the Art Education coursework and fieldwork, students will learn how to develop successful curricula and art lesson plans for a wide range of audiences.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in visual arts is a professional degree that equips students with expertise in their area of focus that will better prepare them for graduate school and employment opportunities as an artist within creative industries. The areas of focus in the B.F.A. in Visual Arts are: Ceramics & Sculpture; Digital Arts; Drawing & Painting; Graphic Design; Photography; and Printmaking and Paper Arts. The Art department is proud of its comprehensive program in the visual arts. The diverse offerings include classes in studio fine arts (drawing, design, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture), and commercial art (illustration and animation). Those who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree or a certificate in animation or illustration. Our mission: is to prepare RCC graduates to continue their education at a four-year institution, to pursue their own artistic endeavors, or simply to appreciate the power of art in daily life.
