Accredited by ECO Canada (Environmental Careers Organization of Canada), the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science at Royal Roads University teaches industry-standard lab and field methods in a team-based environment that prepares you for certification as an Environmental Professional in-training (EPt).

The B.Sc. Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is offered on McGill University's Macdonald Campus. Students can also explore courses and other opportunities on the Downtown Campus, and pursue field courses and research activities locally and around the world, including field study semesters in Panama, Barbados, and Africa. Students can customize their learning experience by picking one of five different majors (Major in Agricultural Economics, Major in Environmental Biology, Major in Environment, Major in Life Sciences, Major in Sustainable Agricultural Systems) along with multiple specializations, concentrations, and/or minors.    

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science Major studies the discipline of environmental science in greater depth. They will have the opportunity to take additional senior-level courses, participate in advanced lab classes, and also have the opportunity to pursue a major research project.

The Environmental Technologist program is designed for people who have a love for the outdoors and a strong interest in environmental sustainability. This program allows students to learn about the natural world in the classroom, spend an abundant amount of time in the field with hands-on learning, and the ability to apply it to current natural resource management issues.

The Environmental Studies Minor has been designed as a program for non-Science students to develop scientific literacy skills in order to engage critically with environmental issues. Care for the environment already impacts our social, political and ethical decisions, and students with a minor in Environmental Studies these decisions can be informed by a deeper understanding of the complexity of our relationship with the environment.

The original Environmental Studies Program was founded in 1970 as one of the first interdisciplinary undergraduate environment programs in Canada, and one of the first few to emerge worldwide. During the last five decades the activities and the functions of the program have grown substantially with seven-degree options available to students.

Gain a solid foundation of environmental knowledge from the sciences, social sciences, and humanities that will prepare you to work in a variety of roles in the environmental sector. The Diploma in Environmental Studies offers an interdisciplinary opportunity to understand the physical principles governing the environment and the social and cultural aspects that influence human behaviour towards the environment. Students will gain a holistic knowledge of the environment through courses from the sciences, social sciences and humanities. The interdisciplinary model will equip students with the critical and analytical skills to think through the many complex factors that influence our understanding of the environment.

Environmental Studies program offers either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. Within Environmental Studies core courses, students gain practical skills in community engaged research, geographical information systems (GIS), environmental impact assessment, policy analysis, lab and field research, statistical analysis, and develop strong oral and written communication abilities.

Traditional elements of this PhD program include the development of a research dissertation in a field of interest in the environmental sciences, the completion and approval of a candidacy examination, and a final oral defence.
