As part of the Faculty of Natural Resources Management, our Environmental Management program will provide you with a sound understanding of natural processes in environmental ecosystems, including a strong background in forest environments and technical experience using industry-standard geomatics tools. Our Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management shares a common curriculum with the Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry for the first two years.Through a specialization, you will delve deeper into the areas of Fish and Wildlife Conservation and Management, Conservation Planning and Management, and Sustainable Land Use.

Environmental Technician students are trained as entry-level practitioners in the use of environmental sampling, monitoring and testing equipment and information technology tools and will be familiar with standard operating procedures for conducting environmental projects. Students are provided with applied knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislative requirements, environmental management systems, and the basic principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability.

Areas of study include biology, chemistry, ecology, soil science, environmental law, geotechnical procedures, Geographic Information Systems, water quality, wildlife management, and land reclamation within forestry, mining, and oil sands operations.

The Environmental Science Bachelor of Science is an interdisciplinary degree in which students take a core curriculum along with a minor. The core curriculum is designed to provide students with knowledge of the fundamental biological, chemical, physical and applied aspects integral to the field of environmental science. In addition, students are exposed to many of the human dimensions that underlie environmental issues. This approach ensures a uniform preparation among students and allows for the development of a diversity of expertise necessary to address the complexity of present environmental problems and future unanticipated ones.
