The HTH GSE Education Leadership Academy focuses on developing educational teams as change agents. This one-year hybrid program blends face-to-face residencies at High Tech High in San Diego, partnerships with HTH critical friends, and online learning.

The leadership studies concentration of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership is a 30-credit-hour program for individuals pursuing educational leadership roles. Through a highly individualized program, students explore essential leadership theory and practice through participation in a rigorous core course of study emphasizing equity and social justice, complemented by individualized course options. The program includes 15 credit hours in required courses and 15 credit hours in a concentrated series of interdisciplinary electives chosen with the approval of the student’s adviser.

The Master’s of Education Leadership (EdL) Program provides candidates with three pathways for earning a master’s degree.

The culturally-responsive and community-based leadership concentration of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership program is a 30-credit-hour program designed to prepare school and community leaders with foundational theory, research, and skills related to culturally responsive and community-based leadership. The curriculum will focus on leadership and understanding and mitigating power imbalances related to race, ethnicity, culture and/or class, as well as establishing policies and practices that nurture an anti-racist organizational climate.

The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program prepares PreK-12 leaders in various roles to create and sustain strong learning communities. Our EdD program is ideal for educational leaders who aspire to serve in dynamic leadership roles at public or private PreK-12 school sites and district or county offices of education. Students learn to integrate, synthesize and apply theories and practices that support research and development of national and global policy, and advance leadership and change initiatives throughout organizations. This cohort-based doctorate employs the practitioner-scholar model of training in which academics, experience, and research are conjoined. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on learning, students gain advanced knowledge in the theory and practice of leadership, education, policy, and many other concepts. With an emphasis on experiential learning, students have the opportunity to take two trips, one global and one domestic. This program culminates in a doctoral dissertation.
