Through its initial teacher training programme the School of Education (SoE) at UKZN strives to prepare teachers who are caring, accountable and critically reflective about the who, what, how and why of teaching in a diversity of contexts. To this end the SoE offers an internationally recognised initial teacher education programmes (Bachelor of Education degrees) that qualifies you to teach in any school in South Africa. Increasingly the qualification is attracting students from neighbouring countries.

Certified graduates of Early Childhood Education who are eligible to teach Pre-kindergarten through 4th grade -and- Special Education Classrooms from Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

MSc Education (Policy and International Development) The Policy and International Development pathway focuses on the relationship between education policy and practice and international development. It probes the influence of global policy agendas on education and the contribution that education makes to social justice, economic growth and sustainable development.

As a student of the Early Childhood Education (at Progress Campus) program, your first priority will be to learn how to provide high standards of quality care to children and their families.

The M.Sc. in Innovation and Technology for Education programme offers you a unique blend of learning experiences, combining on-campus classes, international exposure, a hands-on internship and an applied research thesis.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s online B.A. in Elementary Education Teacher Assistants (TA) to Teachers program at UNC Charlotte is a subprogram of our on-campus B.A. designed to train TAs to become degreed elementary education teachers. The program is specifically crafted to assist those currently working as North Carolina K–5 TAs to engage in coursework that will lead toward eligibility for an Initial Professional Educator’s License in K–6 Elementary Education.

Our full-time MA Education is designed to help you gain the mastery you need, in terms of knowledge, understanding and skills, in order to respond effectively to the changes and challenges in the world of education today. It will provide a choice of themes for study and an approach to extend and develop your educational knowledge, skills and interests for specific career development paths in teaching, leadership, governance and consultancy. As one of the largest graduate programs of its kind in the country, Emerson College’s on-campus Theatre Education & Applied Theatre MA and MFA programs prepare you to use theatre to create learning experiences that transform lives and communities. Housed in the Department of Performing Arts in the School of the Arts, the programs allow you to grow and refine your craft as an artist and an educator. Courses meet the criteria addressed in the National Association for the Education of young children (NAEYC) standards for early childhood professional preparation.

The Associate in Education - Education Paraprofessional (A.Ed.) degree offers the needed preparation in critical education content to prepare students for employment as paraeducators upon graduation. It also prepares students for future transfer to a four-year college or university. The A.Ed. coursework is equivalent to a major relating to education and meets the requirements of employers, especially public school districts.
