In the two-year Master’s Program in Changing Education, you get an understanding of education as a dynamic and transformable construct from the individual neural level to global policies. You also gain the knowledge and skills to analyze, develop, and influence the practices and structures of education systems, institutions, teaching, and pedagogical issues.

Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Art Education (NoVA) is a two‑year, full‑time double‑degree Master’s jointly offered by Aalto University (Finland) and Aalborg University (Denmark). The programme blends theoretical and practical study in visual and digital culture, art education, and cultural entrepreneurship. Students spend one year at each partner university and complete 120 ECTS, graduating with two degrees.

The programme provides tools for functioning creatively and effectively in the world of international development cooperation and broadens students’ understanding of international development institutions, policies, and actors from a critical, reflexive and interdisciplinary perspective.

The program gives you the chance to become a multi-talent in music education. You will learn to master different musical styles on several instruments, lead choirs and bands, and arrange material for various kinds of ensembles. You will utilize existing research in your teaching as well as in evaluation and development work. Our program allows you to build networks with prospective employers already during your studies.

The Master’s Degree Programme in Education Entrepreneurship bridges the fields of education, entrepreneurship, design and innovation. It focuses on a hands-on approach to support new innovations in education such as building education technology start-ups or social impact initiatives, and leading innovation in educational organisations and companies. Studies are offered in an executive-style and through a blended learning model with time both online and during four intensive face-to-face, multi-day bootcamps throughout the year.

In your master’s degree studies you will continue studying music subjects, teachers’ pedagogy, and research techniques. The degree requirements also include elective studies, which constitute at least a fifth of your master-level studies. During your studies, you will take part in various music projects as a musician, bandleader, music composer, and arranger. You will gain experience from teaching in schools and other educational institutions, as well as from collaborating with various operators in the field of culture. Three on-the-job training periods in schools are included in the curriculum.

The programme prepares highly competent and internationally oriented educators to raise the quality of education in the diversifying contexts of the globalised world. Students will gain a broad understanding of the field of education with a particular awareness of international issues in education.

In the Master’s Program in Theatre Pedagogy, art pedagogy is seen as a form of artistic activity where pedagogical questions are ever-present. In the context of art pedagogy, art, performance, and teaching are viewed as encounters where aesthetic, ethical, and political phenomena are intertwined. The program consists of advanced studies in the arts, studies in the theory and practices of art pedagogy, research studies, teaching practices, international interaction, and elective studies that support the development of the student’s identity as an art pedagogue.

We see art pedagogy as a form of artistic activity where pedagogical questions are ever-present. In the context of art pedagogy, we consider art, performance and teaching as encounters where aesthetic, ethical and political phenomena are intertwined. When art and pedagogy come together, they both change.

Master’s in Learning, Education, and Technology (Master of Arts, Education) offered at the University of Oulu is based on over 20 years of groundbreaking research in the Learning and Educational Technology Research Unit. The program aims to develop knowledge and competencies needed in modern education, namely skills for designing, conducting, assessing and analyzing versatile learning situations both in face-to-face and technology-enhanced learning contexts.

The two-year Master’s Degree Program in Pedagogy and Teaching for Sustainability is a multidisciplinary program focusing on pedagogical approaches to promote sustainability through education. The program is divided into orientation studies, methodological studies, subject studies, and other studies. The curriculum of the program has a global focus and it offers a wide opportunity to learn about sustainability from ecological, cultural or/and social aspects with a pedagogical viewpoint.
