The CIDE Master in Economics is a teaching program designed with international standards that seeks the solid training of specialists in the main fields of the discipline. It is part of the offer of teaching programs of the Economics Division, together with the Bachelor's Degree in Economics, the Master's Degree in Environmental Economics, and the Doctorate in Public Policy. The latter is a program taught by the CIDE Public Administration Division. The origins of the Master in Economics go back to the very creation of the CIDE, since it was its original project. The current contents of the program are the result of the experience accumulated in the training of more than forty generations of students and more than six hundred graduates. With the knowledge acquired, our graduates will be able to develop professionally in the public sector, private companies, social organizations, international institutions, and academia. Our curriculum offers students theoretical and methodological foundations, analytical tools, and substantive knowledge. It is a demanding and rigorous program, which provides a unique pedagogical experience, financial support, and educational infrastructure. With this, it makes possible that, in two years, students obtain knowledge and skills for successful professional development, which allows them to improve their environment and generate useful knowledge.

General objective The student will be able to identify the main traditions and visions that, from the power structures public, determine the design and content of social development policies in Mexico. Specific objectives: The student will be able to: Identify the most relevant analysis perspectives on social development. Analyze the relationship between economic development and social development in development theories. Understand the relevance of theories of justice to evaluate the different types of policies and social programs. Acquire the basic conceptual elements to distinguish the implications of the different types of social policies and their economic, political, and legal implications.
