The doctoral study program in Economics and Business Economics of the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka is a member of the two prestigious doctoral networks/associations: Central and South-Eastern European Ph.D. Network (CESEENET) and European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA).

Business Economics and Finance's professional study has a modern systematic approach to understanding business and company management at the operational decision-making level. The programme is designed to integrate contemporary scientific insights and skills needed for operative business and company management and the models, techniques, and methods for applying the acquired knowledge and skills in various areas of practical company business.

The graduate study in Economics and Business Economics lasts two-years, i.e. four semesters. (120 ECTS credits). Upon completion of the graduate study, students acquire the academic degree of Master in Economics or Business Economics.

Students studying and completing a university graduate study program offered by the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka, will acquire competencies and skills important and needed in their future careers as MAs in Business Economics.

The Business Economics study program is focused on knowledge and the development of skills necessary for management. It creates experts who are capable to become leaders. Within the Business Economics study program, students choose the study track which suits their desires and views of their personal development best. The core outcomes of our ‘International Business’ study programs are set so that students can acquire and demonstrate knowledge of key international business principles, as well as a high level of understanding of the global market and business. Students are being educated in an innovative way that enriches their civic engagement and incorporates ethical and responsible business behavior in conditions of globalization and the digital economy. Basically, our programs provide the opportunity to acquire the key knowledge and skills necessary to understand the underlying theory, practice, and techniques of managing international business activities.

Our students work for at least two years in their own student company! The University College is responsible for the costs of setting up and running each student company. After completing the studies, students can continue to run the company independently as their own – we encourage self-employment! Each full-time student has their own mentor-professor with whom they work until the end of their study.

The study program is intended for anyone who wants to have enough personal and business competencies to compete independently and autonomously in the market with their own small or medium-sized enterprise.
