Our Early Modern History MA bridges the division between British and European history that exists on many courses, focusing on ways in which cultural, political and social themes stretch across the period c.1500 - 1800. The course is taught by experts in the histories of the Reformation and the Enlightenment, gender, the material world of the Renaissance, race and racism, and Britain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and the Iberian world.

The PhD in Late Antique, Medieval and Early Modern Studies has earned international recognition for its methodological richness and the application of innovative research tools; the curriculum stresses the interconnectedness of various disciplines, emphasizing multi- and interdisciplinary comparative research. Our departmental faculty of recognized experts in their respective fields provides students with supervision and guidance not only to help them accomplish the immediate goal of submitting their dissertations successfully within four years but also to assist them with regard to their future careers.

We offer five curricula in history and three in interdisciplinary studies, plus a minor in history and a minor in African Diaspora Studies. A degree in History provides students with a critical intellectual framework to assess and understand human affairs. The degree is made up of 120 credit hours that include classes in History, Geography, Political Science among others.

History is taught within the Humanities Department at Concord. It is offered to all years. Three enthusiastic teachers and a careful choice of content allow the students to develop high-level skills and understand a broad range of history. The subject is taken by most students in Form 3 (Year 9) dependent upon their level of English.
