The goal of the two (2) year Early Childhood Education certificate program is to train students on how to provide educational services to a group of children, from 0 – 12 years old, in an early childhood care setting. The main function of an early childhood educator (ECE) is to create an environment that promotes the physical, motor, cognitive, language, socio-affective and moral development of a child by establishing in them a caring relationship. In addition, the educator’s role is to develop, organize, lead and evaluate educational activities that promote overall childhood development.

This Early Childhood Education Attestation is a two-year Continuing Education certification program designed for people interested in a career working with young children in a variety of childcare settings (daycares, pre-schools, extended day programs, and home daycares).

The Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Diploma gives students the competencies and knowledge to work with children under five in licensed preschools and childcare centres. Education courses in the diploma meet the requirements of the Early Childhood Educator Registry for the ECE Certificate to Practice; Infant/Toddler Certificate to Practice and/or the Special Needs Certificate to Practice.

The Early Childhood Education program combines theory and coursework with real experience in the field. Students will learn the importance of play in children's learning, family involvement, and curriculum design. Graduates will be qualified to work in a variety of jobs including child care centres, early learning and family centres.

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Care & Education offers students a range of academic and education courses that blend theory and practice in the early years, engaging with research and theory. Three core threads are intertwined throughout the degree: curriculum, childhood, and leadership and advocacy. As part of your training, you'll be invited to engage in critically reflective practice, working to create learning environments of social justice and equity for children and families.

This program does not accept applications; however, Early Childhood Care and Education students in the diploma or degree program(s) may work towards earning this credential.
