The mission of the Applied Science & Technology Ph.D. program is to prepare students for high-level science and technology careers in industry, research, and government. The Doctoral Program Do*Mar - Marine Science, Technology and Management is a joint international PhD offered by the Universities of Aveiro, Minho, Trás-os-Montes-e-Alto-Douro, Porto, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela and Coruña, with the collaboration of CSIC - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the Instituto Español de Oceanografía, the University of St. Andrews, the Station Biologique de Roscof and the Institute of Oceanography of the University of S. Paulo as host partners.

A regular three to five year program requires a minimum of 48 and 72 credits, respectively. The program has six modules to fulfill the knowledge branch of fisheries. 

The Program aims to produce a new generation of highly qualified professionals well prepared to intervene in industrial, academic, regulatory and other relevant roles. By offering a wide choice of research opportunities in three renowned and complementary research institutions, an environment will be provided in which selected students will be able to identify and develop unique paths of advanced learning.

Students who completed their (follow-up) master´s studies in the same field of study or a related one will be admitted to PhD studies. Applicants who have duly submitted their application and have attached all the required documents will be subjected to individual assessment of the submitted documentation (results of previous studies, CV, a list of published and unpublished works) and the opinion of the supervisor will be taken into account.

PhD in Sustainable Energy and Technologies With this PhD programme we train young researchers in the field of sustainable use of resources in the production systems of energy, of buildings, in energy final utilisation, in the development of products and in manufacturing.

PhD in Control of Machines and Processes study program Control of Machines and Processes is focused on the control of machines and the control of processes. As a machine, you can imagine different production equipment and its subsystems, just as their grouping, it can be a robot, autonomous systems or mechatronic systems.

The students receive strong theoretical, research methodology, and scientific backgrounds, and complete their research individually, with some guidance from their supervisors. Supervision is offered by the top experts and wood scientists in Hungary. The topics are typically linked to industrial research or innovation projects so that Sopron doctoral graduates have not only strong theoretical backgrounds but are very practical scientists as well.

The Graduate School of Science and Technology (Doctoral Course) consists of two courses of Advanced Materials Science and Technology and Safety Science and Technology. The former covers the development of useful materials and their application technology and the latter does crisis-controlling technology for natural and human-originating disasters in the highly developed society.
