The study program Pathology includes mainly the following topics: correlation of morphological and molecular findings in cancers with special reference to differential diagnostics, to the methods of detection of viral and bacterial pathogens in carcinogenesis, and to clinicopathologic correlations in hematooncology, head and neck pathology, salivary gland oncology, pathology and oncology of urogenital, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tract. Cell Biology and Pathology is a field of biomedical science concerned with the build-up and functional characteristics of particular cells and their interaction in the construction of tissues and organs. The content matter of the study is, above all, the cell itself at various levels of its functional organization, also concerning the interconnection of structural-functional levels that maintain the cell as the basic structural and functional unit of multicellular organisms including the human. The goal of the studies in the study program Cell Biology and Pathology is to train the student for independent scientific research work aimed at understanding dynamics, mutual connections, and functional-structural characteristics of cells and tissues under normal – physiological conditions and in pathologic processes as well as in their modeling. The program is carried out without any specialization.

The aim of the study is the dynamics, relationships, and functional characterization of basic structural components of eukaryotic cells under normal - physiological conditions and in pathological processes, as well as in their modeling. Furthermore, the general expressions of functional cells such as cell cycle, movement, etc., including its regulatory mechanisms. Methodical landmark is vytochemie, in situ hybridization, electron microscopy, image analysis, a biological experiment in vivo and in vitro. This program overlaps with a number of other fields, particularly in molecular biology, biochemistry, and physiology.

Postgraduate study in Physiology and Pathophysiology is focused on the investigation of functions of organs and organ systems during responses and adaptations to changes in the external and internal environments in health and disease. An important task is to study the biological membranes, subcellular components (organelles), energy transformations, and the role of extracellular matrix and second messengers in the cell regulations. Branch also focuses on the role of free radicals in carcinogenesis and atherogenesis. The study program is closely related to molecular biology and genetics as well as to many basic and clinical biomedical fields, especially to clinical biochemistry.

The program Human Physiology and Pathophysiology is focused on the study of functions of particular systems of the organism (blood, circulatory system, breathing, digestive, urinary, humoral, nervous systems) and their control, from the molecular level up to the study of mutual relations between particular systems under normal conditions and pathologic states. Equally important is the study of factors that can affect the mechanisms of development, plasticity, and adaptation to epigenetic and internal influences. The experimental and analytic approach of learning enables you to use the knowledge gained for the prevention, diagnostics, therapy, and rehabilitation of the human organism. The objective of the studies in the study program Human Physiology and Pathophysiology is training the students in such a way so that they will be capable of independent scientific work as necessary for an understanding of physiologic and pathophysiologic mechanisms that can be the cause of major clinical conditions. The program is carried out without any specialization.

Functionally defined discipline that studies regulatory functions of organs in response and adaptation of specific systems of the organism to changes in external and internal environment in normal and pathological states. There is the dominance of transition from studies of indirect manifestations of certain functions to studies of their own functional and regulatory mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level in order to use the acquired knowledge for the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of human diseases.
