7 Medical Research Doctoral Degree Programs

The Faculty ascribes great importance to the study of health and disease unique to the Galilee population with the objective of improving health services for the residents of northern Israel, meeting their needs, and ultimately benefiting all of the people of Israel.

Cancer research is a multidisciplinary scientific field. Basic cancer research uses in vitro and in vivo models to identify tumour-specific regulatory mechanisms and targets for cancer therapy. It investigates the cellular mechanisms of carcinogens in order to understand the causes of cancer and analyses exogenous and endogenous factors that contribute to tumour development. The results are used to develop diagnostic procedures, new therapies and prevention strategies.

The Department of Health Sciences (DSS) of the University of Florence places the promotion of health and psychophysical well-being at the core of its mission, directing departmental teaching, research, and third mission activities toward the development of innovative knowledge and skills to address the preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, bioethical, and biomedical-legal challenges associated with protecting personal and public health.
