10 Bioscience Doctoral Degree Programs

The mission of the Mina and Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences is to impart biological knowledge and scientific education based on modern research. In addition to imparting knowledge, we strive to arouse the curiosity of our students and to cultivate their intellectual and cultural growth.

Students are able to apply knowledge in Biological Sciences that is suitable for frontier development and research at the international level. Students are able to integrate knowledge from multidisciplinary areas of research for solving problems in Biological Science.

The Ph.D. in Agrobiosciences is a three-year program that aims at educating highly competent researchers with an interdisciplinary background who will be able to face research frontiers in plant sciences. The program is structured in two curricula: i) Genomics and crop production and ii) Agriculture and environment, offering training in frontier topics of plant sciences, including molecular biology, plant genomics- cs and biotechnology, and environmental and agronomic sciences.

The Doctoral Program in Biology has a duration of 4 years, corresponding to a total of 240 ECTS. The first year includes a curricular component (60 ECTS) structured in Advanced Courses, focused on various thematic areas of the scientific field of Biology (total of 24 ECTS), tutorial classes (20 ECTS), and the preparation of the thesis component (16 ECTS). At the end of the first year, the student will have to submit and publicly defend his doctoral workplan. A positive evaluation is required for their permanence in the doctoral program.

The primary objective of the PhD in Applied Bioscience program is to train students to become high-quality researchers at the interface between chemistry and biology. The Regulatory Biology program is a collaborative with the Cleveland State University Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences. This program focuses on research into the molecular and cellular underpinnings of biological processes in order to identify therapeutic targets relevant to disease.

Postdoctoral scholars make vital contributions to the University's scientific programs while gaining valuable research training and experience under the mentorship of ahead of laboratory, culminating in published results.
