The Health Care Assistant Internationally Educated program is designed for students whose first language is not EnglishA Health Care Assistant (HCA) are prepared to work in both healthcare facilities and community agencies. In these roles they are important and valued members of the health care team.

This program prepares individuals with previous health care assistant education and experience for practice in BC. It is designed to address individual needs as identified through the NCAS (Nursing Community Assessment Service) HCA Competency Assessment.

The HCA Internationally Educated program with healthcare Co-op is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to function effectively as front-line caregivers, and respected members of the healthcare team, in community and facility settings.

The Health Unit Clerk program prepares the student to gain employment in: hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, public health care agencies and long-term care facilities. In the workplace, they will perform non-clinical tasks usually under the supervision of nursing staff and provide the link between patients, physicians, nursing staff and other departments. Job duties and environments vary by place of employment. Some Hospital Unit Clerks are employed part-time or work evening or weekend shifts.
