The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology (PGDipCDTech) is a one year full-time course involving formal education, teaching and clinical practice held at the Faculty of Dentistry in Dunedin.

This qualification reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances. Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.

The Comprehensive Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare the student to become a multiskilled Dental Assistant in the front office or working with the dentist.

Dental assistants work side-by-side with dentists to ensure a smooth patient experience. Their responsibilities include keeping patients comfortable, making dental impressions, and exposing radiographs.

The College of Medicine and Dentistry has gained a license to teach the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Diploma in Dental Nursing. This programme is fully accredited by the NEBDN and is also approved by the General Dental Council (GDC). The diploma is taught fully online allowing you to have a work/study life balance. The programme covers the NEBDN syllabus and includes all areas of knowledge and understanding that a dental nurse needs in order to develop and practise competently.
