The Postgraduate Diploma in Community Dentistry (PGDipComDent) is a one-year (full-time) or two-year (part-time) program for a person who wishes to undertake advanced study in dental public health, but who does not intend to pursue a specialist career in dental public health.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology (PGDipCDTech) is a one year full-time course involving formal education, teaching and clinical practice held at the Faculty of Dentistry in Dunedin.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (PGDipClinDent) may be undertaken full-time (one year) or part-time (two years) at the Faculty of Dentistry depending on the endorsement. Clinical and academic teaching will be evidence-based and will emphasize the comprehensive nature of dental practice with integration of clinical and non-clinical disciplines. Current knowledge of clinical practice and related sciences will be emphasized. Clinical practice, seminars, assignments, case presentations and problem-based learning will be employed as teaching methods.

The Diploma for Graduates (DipGrad) can be used for many purposes, and in some cases, effectively provides an additional major. It requires you to do at least seven papers, of which at least four are at 300-level or above. The program is designed for graduates and may be completed by full-time candidates in one year or by part-time candidates over more than one year.

This program covers preventive dentistry, nutrition, dental health, restorative dentistry, dental sciences, dental radiography, and dental specialities such as endodontics, periodontics, pedodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.

The Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene Integrated Program prepares graduates to function as dental auxiliaries. The Dental Assisting program prepares the student to function as a dental assistant under a dentist's supervision.

This qualification reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances. Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.
