Our course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to become a recognised bricklayer. You will have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art workshops with specialist equipment. Guided by our expert tutors and guest lecturers your study will include hands-on experience preparing you for industry. Our strong commercial links will provide you with the opportunity to take part in an extensive enrichment programme including industry visits so that you can witness the development of the construction industry, preparing you for your future career in the construction sector.

This course will give you an excellent grounding for progression either into industry or onto a relevant university-level course. You will learn a range of forging skills, from tool making to traditional fire welding techniques over the two years, culminating in a final project in which you will plan and make a large-scale final piece to your own design and specification. The second year also introduces restoration & conservation, in addition to a business studies module giving you the skills necessary to manage your own business.

This course seeks to lay the foundation for a successful career in blacksmithing and comprehensively teaches the technical and theoretical skills that are essential to becoming a competent blacksmith. There is also the opportunity to enter national competitions, one of these being at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. High-achieving blacksmiths trained at the College are very well regarded by employers and many subsequently trade in their own right. This subject is an excellent choice for a self-motivated and hard-working person who will be expected to have good hand/eye coordination and artistic ability in this exciting and growing industry.

The first step onto the ladder of the construction sector for many, our Level 1 Bricklaying course is delivered by skilled and enthusiastic staff who have a depth of industry-specific knowledge. Due to the nature of the construction industry, this is a physically challenging course which is predominantly delivered in a practical format.

These qualifications are vocationally based and as such, offer the opportunity for learners to demonstrate an achievement of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in bricklaying and will provide learners with a good introduction to a particular trade within the construction sector to enable them to progress to the next level.

This course targets those students who wish to extend their previous experience and skills, developing further the skills and knowledge achieved in Level 2. Certainly, the course targets students who have already completed the Level 2 VTCT Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques or possess equivalent experience and qualifications in the beauty industry.
