In recent years, oxygen-ozone therapy as an effective therapeutic method has had further development and diffusion. Oxygen ozone therapy is characterized by the simplicity of its application, high efficacy, good tolerance, and a low rate of side effects. The application of ozone in medical practice was withheld for a long time due to the accumulated ideas about its toxicity in relation to the high concentrations used in the industry. The same as any other therapeutic method, the application of oxygen-ozone therapy for medical purposes and its therapeutic success depends on different factors, including the application of good clinical practices, the degree of training of the personnel who apply it, the use of generators, and adequate doses, among others. Applied with the appropriate methods, ozone acts as a therapeutic agent and shows immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, antiviral, fungicides, analgesics, and others. Every year, thousands of patients in Russia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Canada, the United States, Egypt, and in recent times in the countries Asians receive comprehensive ozone treatments for ailments such as ischemic disease (heart, brain, extremities, retina), illnesses chronic virals, gastritis, ulcerative disease, colitis, diabetes mellitus, deficits, secondary immunological deficiencies, purulent infectious processes, problems of the musculoskeletal system, skin diseases and even for HIV / AIDS and cancer. Improvements are observed in most cases, by as well as little or no signs of delayed toxicity over the months and years after treatment. Ozone is also gaining wide acceptance in dentistry and is used as an adjunct in the treatment of dental caries, treatment therapy root canal, gingivitis, and periodontitis, as well as in other oral indications. Along with medical applications, the second use of ozone is in oral health care. At present, there are clinical and experimental studies available that support the effective and safe application of ozone therapy. Even though they exist clinical and experimental studies available showing the safety and efficacy of ozone applications, efforts need to be made to minimize objections or complaints raised by physicians or medical authorities.
