The BA in Fashion Design and Sustainable Fashion Management is a three-year (6 semesters) full-time programme taught in English. You’ll learn how to design clothes, footwear and accessories, use virtual tools and 3D printing, and take part in social-ecosystems shaping the future of eco-fashion.

We founded our school in 2004 with a mission to create a better future for fashion – more responsible and ethical. Our goal is not only to quickly prepare certified fashion designers for the market with a strong emphasis on sustainable fashion education, but also to actively support non-profit initiatives through our MSKPU community.

The BA in Architecture at VIZJA University is a four-year full-time programme (8 semesters) taught in English or Polish. It blends creative studio work with solid technical foundations—spatial composition, building design, construction basics, sustainable solutions, and urban planning.

The major objective for students is to acquire theoretical knowledge in advanced topics in the area of mechanics and machine construction and operation, as well as practical expertise in the application of this knowledge.

Industrial design is the youngest of the practical disciplines. In Poland, the industrial design grew out of the tradition of practical arts, establishing itself as an independent field in the late 1970s. Thus, by definition, industrial design is the design of the form and features of products intended to be marketed. Failure to recognize its uniqueness as compared to the other creative disciplines, too often leads to it being described as one of the practical arts and crafts, and consequently to it being wrongly understood by society in general.

Industrial design training combines a creative and humanities education with technical knowledge. The students are exposed to specific design tasks, which prepare them for cooperation with the industrial world and for independent design work. The Academy cooperates with many industrial plants, which enables the design concepts developed during the courses to evolve into prototypes and be presented to prospective manufacturers at industry exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

Our 2-and-half-year full-time diploma program in English introduces you to different fields of fashion design and various areas of art. The program includes fashion design, jewelry design, fabric design, fashion illustration, sewing, pattern making, visual identification, painting, conceptual design, fashion photography, and computer programs. The multifaceted nature of architectural creativity, covering everything from urban planning through the design of buildings, interiors, exhibitions, and trade fairs, as well as the design of furniture and social space, represents the very essence of architecture, that is the organization and development of socially useful space. Its structural coherent whole, which includes both the interior and external form – much like negative and positive - defines its value as a complex work, that is inextricably linked to the development of civilizations and cultures. Having identified these connections, The Academy of Film Art and Design was the first in Poland to form a didactic process that gives equal treatment to all of the various forms of architectural creativity, when preparing students for the profession of architect. Extensive knowledge in the field of humanities, technology, and culture, when applied in spatial organization and design, will guarantee both a proper interdisciplinary as well as specialist education provided by the individual departments. Computer and multimedia techniques used in the implementation of design exercises ensure an education that meets current professional design standards. The top awards gained in prestigious competitions and the professional achievements of our students and graduates, show the effectiveness of the adopted didactic program.

The Department of New Media Art was launched in 2004. First as a BA, now, for three years, we have also had MA level studies. The program, unique in Poland, consolidates Polish art traditions and new technologies. Students are engaged in interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary exploration in the digital arts. The curriculum enables students to investigate innovative approaches to contemporary theory and practice, and fosters both individual inquiry and high-level collaboration. Current research areas in the department, include new forms of visual communication using sensing and physical interfaces, experimental games, augmented reality, motion graphics, hybrid architectural/media environments, digitally articulated sculpture and responsive environments.

This innovative and unique two-year program of studies has been devised by the staff of the Faculty of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice with the assistance and advice of external experts from such institutions as the Helen Hamlyn Centre For Design, EIDD, TU Delft, University of Hasselt, Gehl People, and other experts active in the field.

Department of Scenography at the Faculty of Architecture and Design consists of five design studios, which conduct an interdisciplinary design and artistic educational work directed at the conscious and responsible shaping of the visual identity of the ‘stage’-the nearest environment. Stage Design and Fashion Design as specializations refer to creating ‘occasional space’ (theatre, TV studio, exhibitions, shows, spectacles, parades etc.).
