Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private BIM - Bachelor in International Management - Design Management degree awarded by the school's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned.

You will learn the technology of typical graphic software used in the field of design. Use your Mac to tackle issues such as posters, mojikumi, advertising, editing, packaging, and diagrams, and learn the basics and applications of design.

DHU utilizes diversifying media from web to videos to develop designers who can succeed in a wide-ranging field by learning the technique of design expression, planning, and the designs for increasing product value.

Design engineering is an area of study which truly exemplifies the motto of our college, “From Creation to Integration.” The art of design is based on the close relationship of human sensibility, society, the living environment, and scientific technology. Design, production, and ways of expression all concern the relationships between objects, open spaces, and humans, and they should not be studied separately. The interaction among objects and humans, living with nature, and the problems of the regional industrial economy should also be studied based on the unity of various fields of science. Thus, under the principle, “From Creation to Integration,” we aim to equip students with high proficiency in research founded upon rich scholastic knowledge for engaging in professional work in a special field of design engineering or for pursuing research activities as an independent researcher.

Kyoto, where our university is located, has two faces; it is at once traditional and avant-garde. Our Faculty of Art and Design covers almost all areas, including the fields of fine art, contemporary art, graphic design, animation, manga, film, fashion design, jewelry design, interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, theater, and literature. In addition, we offer research programs in fields such as art production and historical heritage.

Students learn how to enhance the role of design in a broad range of fields, based on academic knowledge of history, culture, and technology. Students learn to research and propose product designs to improve quality of life-based on the perspectives of practical use and people-centered design. Students engage visual, aural, and physical senses through the use of digital media, to create an original, value-added design. Students learn how to realize a sustainable society based on the study of urban and landscape planning. Students learn how to create new relationships between people and the environment by studying design thinking in diverse fields. Students learn how to create original new designs appropriate for modern society through an understanding of the basic skills of traditional architecture and craftwork.

While keeping in mind the basic principles of design, we are creating an environment where students can think about their expressions, meanings, and suggestions in response to the ever-changing times. In addition to working on the desk, we propose deliverables that can be actually used through practical tasks linked to local Tochigi. Looking to the future, we aim to allow each student to voluntarily engage in the field of manufacturing and design while making the most of their individuality.

In the Graduate School of Design, we educate students and research on the various issues that are indwelling in the regional society. Through education and research, we aim to foster a professional who has advanced knowledge and is an expert in design. Our graduate students will be high-leveled specialists, researchers and educators who will contribute to the welfare of regional society by promoting industry, developing art and culture, restructuring and activating the community.

Keio University Graduate School of Media Design is committed to fostering "Media Innovators" and creative global leaders who understand the core creative skills of design, technology, management, and policy in the fields of digital media, content, and design. In collaboration with international partner institutions and research facilities, education takes a practical, hands-on, and global approach through various projects. Through the state-of-the-art network infrastructure, students and faculty are immersed in a dynamic multi-location campus environment that fosters a global community. International students obtain the degree by taking courses offered in English only.

The Department of Architecture and Urban Design will familiarize students with design theories and techniques that focus on architecture and urban environments that could be inhabited by civilians with a sense of assurance and pleasure.

By working with businesses to design product packages, logos, and websites, as well as by creating art projects and hosting events in collaboration with local groups (particularly around Yamagata), students will learn by experiencing practical graphic design in the real world. They will also learn from scratch how to gather, compile, and edit the information necessary to transmit ideas, regardless of country, age, or disability.

How machines can work in harmony with people? Harmony between people and the environment, and not just the creation of “things,” will be required of manufacturing in the future. From this viewpoint, students in our machine design course will learn through hands-on experience the basics of designing and manufacturing by acquiring the necessary knowledge and techniques related to machine elements, mechanical mechanics, material engineering, and machining processes. We aim for engineers who can form ideas that meet the needs of society.
