Find a Dental Technology degree

The main goal of the new Undergraduate Program in Dentistry (in English language) is to graduate Doctors capable of competence, clinical expertise and ethics in providing oral care to patients. The students will take courses on basic sciences, such as oral physiology and pathology, medical topics related to dentistry, and all dental topics (e.g. restorative dentistry, endodontics, periodontology, oral surgery, implantology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, gnathology).

The new Master’s degree program „Master in Dental Technology“ (MDT) will be introduced in April 2019 at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main in order to offer advanced academic training in the field of dental technology. It is a 120 ECTS program with an international focus, which is conducted primarily in English.

The Master of Dental Technology (MDentTech) Program usually requires two years' full-time study (or the equivalent in part-time study). It consists of three 500-level papers plus a thesis.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology (PGDipCDTech) is a one year full-time course involving formal education, teaching and clinical practice held at the Faculty of Dentistry in Dunedin.

The mandate of our dental technology program is to educate and train students towards expertise in dental technology. This technology includes denture design, laboratory procedures, and research and development in dental materials. Our program also focuses on secondary professional skills for students in the crossover program, so that they may increase future career opportunities.

This qualification reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances. Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.

The Dental Laboratory Technology Fixed Restorative, Ceramic, and Denture Technique Certificate Program is offered for students who desire to enter employment directly after completing this four-semester program.

The one-year certificate program includes classes in dental science, dental x-rays, office management, materials and labour procedures, and working with patients who have serious health problems.
