133 Criminal Law Degree Programs

The master's degree is divided into two semesters in which students will take different subjects, allowing them to define the area of specialization that they wish to study from the second semester onwards by choosing up to four subjects from all those proposed. The master's degree includes the completion of a master's thesis (12 ECTS) at the end of the course, which will be defended before a panel of specialists.

The Criminal Law concentration offers a directed, optional program of study for LL.M. students. Students have the opportunity to receive specialized training in the field and select the classes that are most relevant to their areas of expertise. A concentration designation will appear on the transcript, giving students a competitive advantage in the legal employment market. Students retain the ability to elect a few courses outside of their concentration in other areas of interest or to prepare for the bar exam.

The LLM in Global Criminal Law has a strong focus on the application of criminal law in a globalized and internationalized context. It thus draws from comparative criminal law and international criminal law as well as from rules regulating international cooperation in criminal matters to explore particular types of global criminality: organized and financial crimes, cybercrimes and international crimes.

On this combined Criminology and Law degree, you’ll explore the connections between crime, the legal system, and criminal justice. In your Criminology studies, you'll explore the criminal justice system, analyze the causes of criminal behavior, look at how crime impacts society, and learn how this can inform policing, law, and punishment.

Our Law with Criminology programme is tailored for students who are interested in careers in the criminal justice system or are interested in law and in becoming barristers or solicitors. Our Law with Criminology degree is taught by leading academics in both fields - as well as former solicitors and barristers - in an open and friendly environment, with emphasis given to supporting you as an individual.

Law is taken jointly with Criminology for the three years of this degree which is accredited by the Honorable Society of King’s Inns. We are one of the few universities in Ireland to offer the option of studying law with criminology as part of an accredited law degree.
