The Fashion Design Department aims to cultivate creative design practical talents in the fashion industry, which is required in the global era, and provides excellent fashion professionals through systematic theoretical education and specialized training courses focusing on field practice.

Students cultivate interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research ability through the acquisition of theories related to visual design and nurture talents who can contribute to the industrial society by cultivating design approaches based on theory and creative problem-solving skills. A future-oriented visual design study that extends to the areas of user experience design and image design, which are the areas of information transmission through digital media, from the concept of visual design, which was commonly used as graphic design, centering on print media. It advances into various fields such as visual information design, editing/public relations design, media/video design, user experience design, and cultural content design.

The goal of the Department of Materials Design Engineering is to educate students to be challenging and creative individuals capable of competing in global textile industries by providing knowledge-based education essential for the industry. The textile industry has been playing a key role as a leading and main industry in Korea in terms of export and employment for last decades and has been recently reformed to technology-driven industry based on a new paradigm such as smart textiles and wearable computer incorporated with strategically important technologies such as information technology(IT), nanotechnology(NT), biotechnology(BT), and culture technology(CT). To match up with this paradigm, our department pursues excellence in producing experts required for the high value-added textile and fashion industry by innovating the curriculum on smart textile fields fused with IT, NT, and BT such as digital textile printing, textile CAD, and wearable computer, etc. Graduates with a master's and/or a doctoral degree have working for research institutes and companies relating to textile materials, manufacturing, finishing, planning, trade, distribution, etc.

The Master of Expression and Arts Focuses on Dance Performance, Research on Oriental and Western Dances, Dance Works Production

The Bachelor of Fine Arts program is a one-year 'specialized art creation curriculum' of intensive major education. Intensify the major through individual meetings with the advisor (apprenticeship-style major study), allowing students to create their own works through team teaching convergence education with other majors beyond the barriers between faculties and departments. We are broadening the horizon of creativity through various methods, such as small-scale intensive, individual-to-individual, and large-scale integrated education where group-to-group meets (lab, studio, production-centered creation-LAB, Studio, Production). This is to broaden the department to new applications of the major and to deepen one's field of study through creation. Furthermore, we are conducting art education that combines science and technology through cooperative work in various majors based on affiliated institutions such as the Arts Engineering Center (Artek) and the Culture and Arts Industry Convergence Center. By introducing cutting-edge technology to art creation and utilizing new media for performances and exhibitions, Seoul Institute of the Arts suggests a direction for art creation in the digital age and constantly challenges new forms of art creation. The curriculum of our university is a process of implementing the 4 major development indicators and 5 educational goals based on the founding philosophy. The Seoul Institute of the Arts undergraduate program is located at the center of the creative work.

The systematic and seamless academic calendar, such as the year-round presentation of students' creative presentations, presentation of professor works, and close exchange and cooperation with art universities around the world, was possible thanks to the support of the state. As a result, numerous winners of famous dance competitions at home and abroad, leading roles of famous professional dance groups, and numerous dancers were produced, and many graduates from leading art middle and high schools in Korea are working as lecturers.

Beginning with the Department of Fine Arts and Crafts in 1964, the Department of Painting was established in 1972, and has been divided into East and Western painting majors. In 1984, it was established as a Western painting department with the enrolment quota of 40.

This Graduate School of Church Music is, under Article 108 of the Education Law and upon the creed of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea, aiming at yielding competitive leaders of church music who will fulfill their duties faithfully, encouraging the students to develop their creative and unique capability as well as general knowledge of music, and leading them to be capable musical ministers and leaders who will contribute to the development of church music in Korean Church and society.

First of its kind in Korea, the department of Kumdo trains students in the four foundations of Kumdo: ‘Kumdo people proficient in both literary and martial arts who possess tenacious will power and manners; ‘cultured Kumdo people’ who possess scientific knowledge and comprehensive understanding of Orientalism; ‘excellent Kumdo people’ possessing a high-level practical skill ability; and ‘global Kumdo people’ possessing foreign language skills and comprehensive understanding of international society.

With a global-minded education system, the Graduate School of Design is committed to training professional designers, particularly with expertise in digital/analog design that will support IT industries. Furthermore, by establishing a research system that combines government, industry, and educational sectors, the Graduate School of Design seeks to enhance functionality and productivity in design education.

The Department of Industrial Design supports the development of students’ abilities related to the design of products such latest technology devices, automobiles, IT, mobile devices, and furniture.

The Master of Science Program is constructed around the academic exploration of the design discipline and its application and methods. Through various collaborative projects with the industry, the ability to exercise and manage design projects is strengthened. Individual studies concerning high-level theories and practical application are practiced to acquire skills applicable to practical business.

The Master of Design focuses on Visual Communications Design, Brand Package Design, Exhibition Environmental Design

Based on the characteristics of traditional arts and crafts centered on people and skills, students of this department study master of the skills and the wisdom contained in the materials and tools as well as the technical processes these masters have used for generations in a systematic manner. In addition, we create an inheritance foundation of traditional art and craft skills through creative reproduction and further focus our energy on the realization of the practical modernization of traditional skills that can be applied to our times today.

It operates a goal-oriented education program using state-of-the-art facilities to foster 21st century digital image experts and critics. The goal-oriented education program refers to industry practice-oriented education so that graduate students can become practical talents who can meet the demands of the industrial society and have the qualities as experts required by the modern film age.
