Contemporary design encompasses the present, pulling current trends; it is always evolving due in part to the availability of (new) materials and pieces. The aim of the Italian Contemporary Design and Trends Spring Semester is to enrich you with a cultural knowledge on the contemporary design as well as the contemporary art. This allows you to have an overview on the new trends in terms of art, furniture and interior design, as well as learn more about contemporary artists and designers and the different techniques, materials, and tools they use when realizing their artworks. The program will also offer you a practical study of the Italian design system from the management and the design methodology perspective. New trends in furniture, various types of houses, different lifestyles and people's needs and desires will be analyzed from a practical and emotional point of view. Throughout the semester you will be engaged in developing technical and critical skills in the classroom and inside the main trade fairs that highlight the Italian design experience.

The goal of the Interdisciplinary Visual Studies Minor is to create a dynamic model for critical and creative engagement with visual experience across media, time, and cultures. Bryn Mawr College's partnership with Haverford College allows students to minor in Visual Studies and take Visual Studies courses at Haverford. Integral to an evolving global world is a reliance on new and old visual modes from social media, photography, moving images and complex data sets, to illuminated manuscripts and hybrid art forms.

Art and Design and Moving Image Arts are exciting and engaging subjects which play a valuable part in the education of Campbell College boys. The visual arts provide unique ways of expressing feelings and ideas about the world in which they live. The curriculum content of Art & Design and Moving Image Arts at Campbell College aims to give our pupils an understanding and appreciation of arts and culture, keen visual literacy, and the creative and practical skills required to study the visual arts at GCSE, A Level, and in further and higher education.

Visual Development employs art and design to build vivid worlds for feature, series-length and printed entertainment. If you’ve ever admired the way the Spider-Verse looks or the fact that Spongebob wears square pants, you can thank a Visual Development Artist. They’re the ones who focus on the ideation and execution of art for animation, gaming, comics, toy design, publishing, advertising, and more.

Graphic Design offers a Skills Competency Award in Digital Visual Foundation. This award provides essential knowledge, processes, principles and skills for visual design and production for print and visual media. The student is introduced to key 21st Century digital skills needed to be successful in the media arts. This award can work well as a stand-alone award, or as the basis for study in graphic design, mutimedia, visual media production or other areas.

The undergraduate minor in visual culture encompasses the study of art history, film, media, and scientific images. Spanning a wide range of historical periods and geographic locations, visual culture courses have as their unifying concern the enduring significance of images and image making, practices of looking, and visual experience. Looking beyond campus, visual culture courses often make use of the resources of local art and media institutions such as The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, offering students an opportunity to get away from their residences and labs to apply the skills learned in class to real settings in the local community.

The Minor in Visual Effects (VFX) provides Animation and Digital Filmmaking students with the technical and conceptual skills needed to enhance their visual moving images, be it in film: video, web design, game application, or animation, through computer generated imagery to enhance and clarify their narrative. We encourage you to speak with the Chair of Animation or Film if you would like help picking an elective that will best serve your interests.

Visual storytelling is a burgeoning form of communication that combines writing and images, and can be found in journalism, fiction, young adult and children's books, comic books and other forms. The Visual Narrative Minor brings together a variety of courses that gives undergraduates a more sophisticated and well-developed approach to the creation and invention of graphic non-fiction and fiction for any audience. The courses come from both Creative Writing and Illustration and encourage collaboration and creative cross-pollination by undergraduate students and faculty.

From painting to video production, learn the techniques of visual communication and develop your voice. Learn to create a portfolio of work using traditional mediums, industry-standard software, and professional equipment. In order to graduate, you will be expected to have completed one year of visual or performing arts or equivalent.

Visual Effects (VFX) describes almost everything that’s added into a movie or TV show after the filming is complete — the explosions, the falling helicopters, or the transformation from 21st century New York into 1920’s New York. Events that are too dangerous to film, such as particle- based effects like smoke, water, and oceans, or worlds and environments come to life through Visual Effects.
