The Curry College Coaching minor prepares students with the required business, managerial, and leadership skills for pursuing careers in coaching and athletics administration at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. Students in the minor will learn various coaching philosophies, recruitment strategies, and administrative responsibilities through both classroom work and internship opportunities. Students can take advantage of these experiential learning opportunities through our partnerships with the NCAA DIII Curry College Athletics Department, Curry College Club Sports and Intramurals, athletics departments in nearby Milton, Needham and Dedham, Skyhawks Sports Academy, Camp Cobbossee (Maine), Town of Lexington Recreation, and the Park School in Brookline, among others.

Education majors who wish to specialize in an area of interest can do so by completing the requirements of their perspective majors and any additional coursework within a concentration. Students in majors other than Education complete the courses within the concentration and then will apply for an Education minor in the specialized area. Students interested in pursuing an Education minor must complete and submit an application describing the rationale for their minor along with the list of courses the student wishes to take (applications are available via the Education Department and the Advising Office). After approval from the Department, students will be notified and their status will be updated with the Registrar's Office.

The Chemistry minor at Curry College supports and provides an added dimension and background to understanding the concepts involved in the study of the environment and of life itself. Chemistry courses strongly support those majoring in Biology and Biochemistry, as well as those preparing for careers in nursing, medicine, and technology.

At Curry College you will not be a spectator only watching how the criminal justice system and process work. Your Curry courses will focus on re-imagining a more just, equitable and inclusive criminal justice system and society. You will evaluate promising crime control policies to prevent, reduce and effectively respond to crime, help make our communities safer and promote public confidence, trust and respect in law and the criminal justice system.

With a wide range of courses – many that are typically only offered in master’s programs, you can dive right into the field and see where your skills fit best. With specialized courses in advertising, consumer behavior, and digital marketing, and internships built into the curriculum, Curry will prepare you for the dynamic field of marketing.

Black Studies is the interdisciplinary study and research of Black cultures around the World. This program develops students’ awareness of political and sociological issues related to Black experiences from their historical beginnings to popular culture and beyond. It is hoped that students taking courses in the minor will gain a greater understanding of the experiences and contributions of African peoples around the world, as they fight against intolerance and enrich their environments. Students may obtain a minor in Black Studies in conjunction with a major in any area of study.

Are you the kind of person who learns by moving? Do you want to merge scholarship with creativity, expressiveness, and social advocacy? Then you should consider the Dance minor at Curry College. You can declare a minor in dance to complement a major in any other area of study. All dance courses also satisfy General Education requirements at Curry. The combination of a dance minor with a major in public health and wellness, psychology, graphic design, studio arts, or business administration, for example, may lead to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration.

The Early Intervention minor and concentration specializations prepare students to work in family-focused service organizations that support and promote the growth and development of children at risk of or with a diagnosed developmental delay (birth to age three) and their families. A required field experience or internship provides hands-on opportunities to link theory to practice. Students with an Art History minor gain a foundational understanding of the history of art and architecture. The program requires a combination of broad survey courses and classes in specific fields and periods. Overall, students explore visual images and architecture in their broader social contexts, allowing students to understand how social, cultural, and intellectual factors help inform the discipline. Students may declare a minor in art history to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of an art history minor with a major in Community Health and Wellness, Psychology, Studio Arts, or Business Management, for example, may lead, respectively, to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration.

For students interested in joining the business world, a minor in Finance allows any major to gain the knowledge required for a career path that could include roles such as corporate finance manager, chief financial officer, controller, financial analyst, or financial planner. Related: Curry College to Launch School of Business and Computer Science This five-course program is for students seeking deeper knowledge and skill development in financial modeling, capital budgeting and forecasting, and investments. In the capstone course, Advanced Corporate Finance, students gain valuable experience by working through a culminating case study. The minor in Finance will focus on quantitative and analytical courses to provide our students with not only an expanded knowledge base in finance but also the critical application and technical skills.

Students interested in exploring careers behind the camera – including commercial, scientific, medical, aerial, news, sports, and fine art photography – will benefit from a Photography minor at Curry. This five-course program offers an array of courses in the essentials of industry tools, techniques, and practices while preparing students to become successful photographers. The Photography minor complements students studying graphic design, studio arts, communication or forensic science. Moreover, it allows all students, regardless of major, to master skills such as studio and location lighting, digital workflow, photo editing and retouching. With access to a state-of-the-art digital photography studio, students will gain exposure to industry-standard hardware and software products and gain the technical skills to develop an individualized digital photography portfolio.

A Business Administration degree can take you nearly anywhere – from Fortune 500 companies, to startups, and to our innovative 5th Year MBA. Obtain a strong business foundation by studying accounting, economics, finance, technology, quantitative analysis, business law, marketing, operations management, and ethics. Increase your understanding of global business by participating in international study away trips as part of business courses. Become a creative problem solver by using the latest analytical technologies and techniques. Gain “on the job” practical experience by participating in our innovative internship program, where a faculty supervisor and a field supervisor guide you. While Business Administration majors are required to complete at least one minor before graduation, an obligation that serves to strengthen your resume, completing at least one minor will enhance any student’s resume.

Forensic science is a broad, interdisciplinary field in which the natural sciences are used to analyze, examine, evaluate and assess physical evidence in matters of the law. Learn to interpret and reconstruct crime scenes as you prepare for a key role in our legal system. Study in our new, state-of-the-art labs and become a forensic science technician – a career expected to grow 17% by 2030. With a strong training in the sciences, evidence response and recovery, crime laboratory procedure, and the ability to conduct research that progresses various fields of forensics, you’ll be prepared to work in a variety of local, state, and federal agency settings.
