This course covers all the skills involved in making a garment from a commercial pattern including putting in a zip, waistbands and pockets. Students will be required to buy a pattern and fabric for either a skirt or pair of trousers of their choice and will be guided through how to adjust their chosen garment to fit themselves. Advice on the style of patterns and fabric will be given in the first session by a well-qualified and experienced tutor.

Our intermediate floristry course is designed for those who have completed our Beginners course, or those with other previous Floristry experience (N.B. this is not a flower arranging course). You will build on the floristry skills and techniques learned within the beginners course, working on more complex floral designs. Each week covers a different type of floral design, dependent on flower availability and seasonal themes.

This course is suitable for beginners to floristry and is designed to give you the opportunity to explore your creative side using practical floristry skills and techniques, covering all aspects of floristry i.e. flower arrangements, wedding and funeral work using foam and wiring techniques. (N.B this is not a flower arranging course).

Level 2 students can choose from a wide range of subjects to specialise in for further study towards a career. This course will introduce you to a range of activities essential to the development and delivery of art and design outcomes including research, ideas development, the use of technical skills and evaluation. It will also provide an introduction to the diversity of roles and responsibilities in the arts, design and creative industries and the personal and professional characteristics needed for a career in the creative media industry

The level 2 in Fashion, Business and Retail covers the whole process of retail; from trend forecasting, identifying market levels, research, design conception, sustainability and supply chains through to its end destination, whether a retail environment or online shop. You will develop the skills required to offer creative solutions to an ever-changing selling environment, gaining an overview of modern fashion business functions and retail practice, its roles and basic business strategies.

Level 1 students can choose from a wide range of subjects to specialise in for further study towards a career. You will develop a range of study skills including English and Maths qualifications, as well as building a portfolio of work to prepare them for progression to Level 2 study in either the art or design area of their choice, or alternative subject areas in other departments.

This course will help develop basic watercolour techniques, composition and colour mixing skills, through a series of projects. In addition, the use of media such as pen, pastel and gouache will be combined with watercolour for more challenging projects.

This course explores the fashion retail industry as a whole, so students gain an understanding of the fundamental areas from head office to point of sale. You will develop a strong foundation for many careers and develop key creative and academic skills working to industry related assignments. Students will receive a wide range of feedback from industry professionals working in the heart of London to continue to support their professional learning. The programme prepares you for the reality of the sector including progression paths available in higher education as well as career opportunities in the fashion industry.
