Sports Coaching was born as a response to an increasingly pressing need to balance technological advances and competitiveness in the sports world.

The coaching minor prepares students who want to coach youth sports, junior or senior high school sports, or in recreational sports settings by providing additional knowledge in the areas of teaching sport skills, sport psychology and organizing athletic programs. This minor is an excellent addition for students majoring in education or students majoring in other fields who would like to work with youth sports beyond their professional field.

Based on the goal of “building a comprehensive, high-level and distinctive world-class sports university”, the College focuses on the cultivation of high-level athletes, coaches and referees, adheres to the principle of “global vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics and orientation in high standards”, and starts from the “diversified, coordinated, integrated, international and technological” cultivation of excellent competitive sports talents, in order to establish a competitive sports talent cultivation system in a new form of “national leadership, college education, social collaboration, and international cooperation”, build a new competitive sports talent cultivation model of “longitudinal integration” and “horizontal integration”, and cultivate the excellent competitive sports talents of the new era with “national sentiment, social responsibility and international standards”.

Students learn the structure of sport skills and the mechanisms of improvement, coaching theory and methods, technical and tactical analysis methods and the like related to improving performance in top athletes, as well as practical knowledge, and then develop human resources that can be deployed in the field of competitive sport education as a result.

Effective communication is a crucial component of successful coaching, allowing coaches to connect with their athletes and facilitate their growth. Unfortunately, many coaches do not have the opportunity to develop this essential skill.Coaches who lack opportunities to develop their communication skills may struggle to connect with their athletes on a deeper level and might find it challenging to convey instructions, feedback, or encouragement effectively. Providing resources and training for coaches to enhance their communication skills can greatly benefit both the coach-athlete relationship and the overall performance of the team or individual athletes.
