29 Social Science Course Programs

This program is designed to offer both background and current trends in labor, community and social justice organizing. This includes labor-management issues and relations, union, worker collective and community organizing and social justice movement building.

Social Science encompasses academic disciplines that analyze the interaction of people with a society. Applying social science theory to classroom practice requires instructors to demonstrate the ability to teach state-adopted content standards in History/Social Science while enabling students to learn and use analytic thinking skills aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Focus on the application of instructional strategies for teachers of the social sciences at the middle and high school levels. Address organization of courses, sources of materials, textbooks, and methods of teaching the social sciences, with an emphasis on adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the literacy goals of Common Core.

The Spanish culture courses (art, cinema, politics, institutions, creative industries, with Barcelona as a backdrop), focus on communication, conversation skills and improvement of writing in Spanish; and the specific purposes courses of economy and society taught in English organized by Estudios Hispánicos for foreigners, interested in improving knowledge of these subjects with specialized teachers. These courses have been on offer for over 70 years.

Every Harvey Mudd student takes a minimum of eleven courses in humanities, social sciences, and the arts (HSA), and many choose to take more. Some students even complete a second major in one of the HSA fields. The HSA program requirements are highly flexible, affording students substantial choice in their course selections. Students can elect courses offered by the Harvey Mudd HSA department and at the other undergraduate institutions at The Claremont Colleges. Study abroad is common and easily fits within the HSA program requirements, as does work in music, the visual arts, and other creative endeavors.

The Social Sciences Degree offers multidisciplinary and international training leading to masters of excellence from Dauphine - PSL and PSL. It is based on learning quantitative and qualitative methods around two years of common core training and different specializations in the 3rd year of the degree: Sociology and Political Science, Public Action, Economics. Master the range of qualitative and quantitative methods in the social sciences.

This course is designed to prepare mature students for university level study. If you want to work in Health & Social Care, Social Work, Primary Teaching, Law and many other careers with a strong social sciences basis, this course will provide excellent preparation for a suitable Higher Education degree. In 2022-23, 100% of students on our Access Social Sciences diplomas secured offers of university places. This compares with a progression rate of just 55.4% across all Access diploma courses in England and Wales.

The M.S. in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences at the Graduate Center prepares students from a variety of backgrounds for a data-driven future. Data analysis is driving research and decision-making in every social science field and sector. Doctoral Training Alliance Social Policy is interdisciplinary in its approach, bringing together criminologists, sociologists, social care and social policy experts in response to a range of societal challenges.

The Social Communication Program in virtual mode offered by the FUP seeks to contribute to the development of the region and the country by training integral professionals, with a high sense of ethics and social responsibility, committed to their time and territory, with a solid training Theoretical and methodological to contribute from their discipline to the dialogue between different social actors and the peaceful and dialogic solution of conflicts, professionals capable of analyzing, interpreting and understanding various social, political and cultural processes, acting as a mediator in participatory processes of innovation, development and social change, and creatively integrate into digital communication environments through content generation and management.

The study of Social Studies contributes to the important goal of preparing students for their lives as Canadian citizens and members of the international community. Through participation in Social Studies, students are encouraged to: Develop an appreciation of democracy and what it means to be Canadian. Demonstrate respect for human equality and cultural diversity.

The aim of social studies is to develop thoughtful, responsible, active citizens who are able to consider multiple perspectives and to make reasoned judgments. The Social Studies 11 curriculum provides students with opportunities to reflect critically upon events and issues in order to examine the present, make connections with the past, and consider the future.

Freedom to choose courses is why many students choose the General Studies Profile. Dawson's Social Science Program has 11 social science disciplines and more than 150 teachers who are experts in their field. Students in General Studies forge their own academic path by selecting courses to suit their interests, satisfy their intellectual curiosity or take university prerequisites in biology and math (up to three courses). Students who are undecided about their future studies or career can explore the social sciences by taking introductory and enrichment courses in up to seven different disciplines. Participating in a Learning Community or taking a Certificate are additional ways a student can choose to enhance their learning.
