9 Secondary Education Course Programs

Students who follow the higher secondary education aggregation program normally take the exams at the end of the second year of the licence. They are strongly advised to follow the general courses of the program from the first year of the license.

The School of Education provides 8-12 teacher certification in Biology, Chemistry, English, Math and Social Studies and P-12 certification in Art, Health/Physical Education, Music, Learning Behavior Disorders and Spanish. The Education Professional Standards Board requires ongoing assessment of educator preparation candidates. Therefore, it is important that secondary education majors remain in close contact with their education advisors. The first candidate assessment point, called CAP 1, is intent to major in the educator preparation program. CAP 2 is admission to the program and approval is required to take ED 414. All CAP requirements are described earlier in this section.

Generally, students in Western Australia attend primary school and then secondary school. Depending on the needs of the community, some of our schools cater to both primary and secondary-aged children. Our teachers specialize in primary or secondary education, although teachers may teach both primary and secondary students in district high schools.

The VCE is the certificate awarded to students upon the successful completion of secondary education in Victoria. It allows for a diverse range of paths to be taken into either further study at a university or vocational training institution, or entry into the workforce. It is an outstanding qualification that is recognised around the world.

Study Academic English while you complete 8 full-credit courses to receive your high school diploma. Earn a High School diploma recognized across Canada while gaining the English language ability and academic skills needed to succeed in higher education. In this supported program, you'll build a customized learning plan designed to help you complete the prerequisites you need to move on to your chosen higher education program.

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) allow high school students in Years 10, 11, and 12 to commence an apprenticeship or traineeship while at school. These programs enable students to begin an apprenticeship or finish a traineeship while attending school. By participating in a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship, students engage in paid work, receive training, and continue their education. Not only do they earn a nationally recognised qualification in their chosen industry, but they also earn credits towards their HSC. You can start an SBAT in Year 10 or Year 11, and some training arrangements can contribute towards your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Complete the specific high school credit courses that interest you or that you need to meet prerequisites for a college, TAFE, or university program. ILSC High School Program: Individual Credits is a flexible program that allows you to target and complete one, two or more high school credits. Students age 16+ can study Online or Distance Learning or in class at any location and combine their credits with ILSC English for Academic Purposes or ESL-High School Bridge. Students age 14-15 can take the in-class program in Toronto, Vancouver or New Delhi, and combine their high school credit course(s) with ILSC’s ESL-High School Bridge classes.

At CATS Boston, we offer an intensive two-week preparation program for you to acclimatize to our campus before starting your High School Diploma.
