8 Safety Engineering Course Programs

This is a suite of 3 basic safety training courses suitable for delegates working onboard vessels on the River Thames, who are working towards obtaining a Boatmasters Licence. This highly practical 5-day course comprises the five STCW Basic Safety Training courses required for working at sea: STCW Personal Survival Techniques, STCW Elementary First Aid, STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness, STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities.

These courses are delivered by specialist Health and Safety tutors who are accustomed to working with a wide range of trainee abilities. The aim of the courses is to update learners’ knowledge of Health and Safety so that after an appropriate site induction, they can work at significantly less risk to themselves and others. It is not to produce Health and Safety experts.

CCNSG Leading a Team Safely is a one-day workshop designed to provide an essential introduction to managing small teams within the context of Health and Safety in the Engineering Construction Industry. These courses are delivered by specialist Health and Safety lecturers who are accustomed to working with a wide range of delegate abilities.

6 Hour Course suitable for delegates working towards obtaining Boatmaster's Licence. This course complies with SI 2015 No. 410, and is intended to give all candidates basic knowledge of fire safety, fire prevention and an understanding of the hazards of fire. Candidates will understand the need for prompt, safe and correct action to be taken on the outbreak of a fire, and will experience the use of extinguishers on live fires.

Every effort has been made to ensure this course can be delivered effectively, with social distancing measures in place. Hand gel is available throughout the College, and candidates are advised to follow government guidelines with regard to the coronavirus. You must complete the Covid-19 Declaration Form contained in the confirmation email and bring it to the College on the course date.

If there are projects happening in your community, there may be a program starting up near you. Check with your local Labour Force Development officer for details. The Heavy Equipment Operator program is only delivered in select community locations. The program includes classroom and hands on training, career planning, and safety tickets.

A half day course for any employees in any sectors of employment, this course is presented in a classroom environment, with the theoretical components covered using a PowerPoint presentation. The theory components are to illustrate technical points such as: Correct manual handling techniques; and The anatomy and its vulnerability to injury or progressive damage.
