The Sacred Art School, training area of the Foundation for Contemporary Sacred Art, provides instruction in painting, sculpture and jewelry for students wishing to pursue careers as professional artists. Our three-year courses constitute our main educational offer; in fact, they offer a solid curriculum that provides each student with all the tools to learn how to become a well-rounded artist and pursue an artistic career.

Studying abroad helps you develop new perspectives on who you are as an artist, and to see your art and yourself through new eyes. BCA offers a transformative experience for the emerging artist, stripping away the noise, clutter and distraction of everyday urban life to allow for a greater exploration of creativity. Students normally take 5 courses during the semester, each carrying 3 credits. Each students is given a large studio space, for which they have 24/7 access to during the course of the programme.

A studio experience with supporting slides, lectures, and films. Explores different ways of seeing and painting to become more visually literate. Examines basic painting techniques and materials.

You will start learning from basics of oil painting, watercolor, fresco and other techniques to extend your learning to space structure and understandings of shading, composition, including lectures on art history in order to study Italian art and outdoor drawing, participants will learn both traditional techniques and modern techniques.

The Minor in Painting allows students to focus on painting as a medium, discipline, process and vehicle to evolve conceptual thinking with painting practices. It will provide students the opportunity to explore the technical, formal, historical and theoretical approaches to painting through a combination of studio courses. Explorations in traditional mediums such as oils and acrylics will be utilized as well as mixed media and non-traditional mediums.

Watercolours can be fun, free, experimental and also considered. This course is designed for the total beginner and also those who have dabbled and need a little encouragement. Throughout the course, students will have accomplished the essential techniques needed to begin painting confidently with watercolours.

Acrylic is very easy to use and quick to dry and is versatile to use in paper, canvas, wood, glass and ceramics. This art and design course will provide you with the opportunity to actively participate in structured sessions to develop understanding and confidence with the production of visual imagery. Studies will start with an emphasis on observation and drawing. Followed by subsequent translation to develop work across a range of processes that may include painting, collage and printmaking. Continuous support, guidance and advice will be on hand throughout. The classes offer an informative and conducive learning opportunity that shares and builds upon experience through practical activity and reflection. Returning students have the opportunity to further apply knowledge and experience to extend and develop their practice.

Mount Holyoke’s Department of Art encourages artistic exploration while providing technical skills and interdisciplinary opportunities. Whether enrolled in introductory or advanced studio courses, students learn to express themselves in a range of methods and material.

Relax and have fun learning how to compose and paint a beautiful floral still life. This one day workshop will take you through all the steps on how to paint flowers as a still life. This relaxing class is totally guided with all explanations and demonstrations. Learn the basics of sketching, painting, mixing colours and blending to create a lovely colourful floral artwork.

Suitable for the graphic design major, an advanced studio minor allows you to continue your visual art studies in a hands-on manner at a more advanced level.

Learn the basic brushstrokes of oriental art using Chinese Ink, watercolour, and rice paper. Subjects covered include bamboo, flowers, birds, and landscape, while creating interesting and different effects on various types of papers.

The Florence Academy of Russian Art offers you to take its One-Year Course, which can be extended then into the full Three-Year Course. During one academic year, you will go through a step by step program, which will take you from basic to complex. You will be starting by studying simple geometric figures and then finish the year by drawing and painting portraits. This course is a fundamental educational base for any artist who wants to master the skills of academic drawing and painting.
