Explore the geology and ecology of western Norway! From Mountain to Fjord is an environmental course focusing on interdisciplinary natural science with a main emphasis on the geology and ecology of Western Norway.

Global warming can enhance local extreme weather conditions, which in turn can affect the frequency of geohazards such as landslides, avalanches and flooding. This course provides you with a broad understanding of the interaction between atmospheric and Earth's surface processes that control the occurrence of potentially catastrophic geohazardous events.

What are you doing this summer? Develop your global mindset, expand your network and earn credits while you study international marketing and international management at the USN International Summer School. Each year about 60 students gather together at Campus Ringerike for an intensive, five-week programme to study international management and international marketing. This program is a full time study programme and focus on benefits gained from being physically active in a life span cycle. Experiences from using physical activity as a tool to improve health in different Norwegian health and fitness contexts and in the work place will be covered. Bjørknes College, in partnership with Comenius University, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Slovakia and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo (UiO) a medicine education by one year in Oslo and five years at Comenius University in Martin, Slovakia.

This semester programme in craft and design offers you a handicraft- and materials-based approach to design. It offers experience in the planning and implementation of a design process from the first idea to the finished product. It gives you the opportunity to develop an awareness of your role and responsibilities when you apply practical handicrafts and materials-based design as a means of fostering change and the development of a sustainable society.

Visual Communication II is a compulsory course in the study programme Bachelor’s in Design, Art and Crafts, and is a 200-level course. Students must include a 200-level course, KOH203 or KOH204, as part of their bachelor degree. The course is also available for international exchange students. The course builds on the academic level provided by the course KOH131 Visual Communication, and develops a deeper insight into and understanding of visual communication.

The course aims to provide a broad understanding and foundation of the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The starting point is the communication challenges that state institutions and private businesses face when citizens and customer groups make demands for social responsibility in areas that concern the environment, human rights and social conditions. In a global and culturally pluralistic market, conflicts based on such questions will become more common. Problems related to reputation will and will be dealt with.

The course will also focus on prevention and building trust versus appraisals. Also Quality Management of new technologies like robots, big data and 3D printing will be discussed.

Here, you will have a unique opportunity to work with Norwegian social enterprises, applying their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting and to learn about how organizational structures and cultures may drive or hinder social innovation. To facilitate effective learning, you will engage in lectures discussing theoretical frameworks and best practices in social innovation and social entrepreneurship. Here, you will also gain a basic understanding of Design Thinking (DT) aimed at addressing societal challenges. Finally, you will create and work with a project that addresses genuine societal challenges, employing a stakeholder approach to design innovative solutions. By the end of this course, you will be prepared to actively engage in social innovation and social entrepreneurship endeavors on a local level, while at the same time hold important theoretical knowledge about social innovation and social entrepreneurship on a global scale.

The student shall make at least one minute of completed animation in a chosen technique or a combination of techniques. A shorter project may be accepted if it is made in classic 2D animation. No complete narrative is required, but the student shall through the work show skills and knowledge beyond a basic level in the chosen animation technique. The student takes part in an animation project related to the animation industry. It might be an advertising film, music video, a title sequence, a pilot for a program/series etc. The project can be made within the school or with an external producer/studio or as part of international exchange at an education partner abroad. The project must be accepted by the teacher in charge.
