The Core Course in Public Health and Health Equity is a three-month course that prepares you to systematically analyse and address complex public health issues, covering epidemiology, health system aspects, and broader social determinants of health. The course focuses on health equity in low-resource settings and high-resource settings with disadvantaged populations. It can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of the Master of Science in Public Health and Health Equity. IMPORTANT: This new Core Course in Public Health and Health Equity/NTC is a merger of the former Core Course of Public Health (MPH) and the Netherlands Course on Global Health and Tropical Medicine (NTC) will start from September 2024.

The goal of the Summer Schools is to teach a multidisciplinary approach to oncology to medical students before they enter the clinic. The first Summer School in Groningen was held in 1996 and in Vienna in 1999. Students that participated in the Summer schools have been extremely satisfied with the organisation, scientific content and topic range.

Participants identify SRHR: Policy, Governance and Financing-related international agreements, development commitments and financial mechanisms, and analyse how these influence national policies and plans and vice versa. They will perform an SRHR strategic policy review from a multi-stakeholder perspective, addressing governance, human rights and financing structures and their implications for planning and managing comprehensive SRHR.

The Summer Course in Global Health offers participants in-depth insights into the increasing complexity of the burden of disease. In a globalizing world, health challenges transcend national boundaries and are becoming more complex. To face these challenges, including those posed by pandemics like COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS, we need a two-way flow of resources, expertise, and know-how between the Global North and Global South, involving stakeholders from different scientific disciplines.

This two-week blended course offers an introduction and overview of digital health, including a strong emphasis on how in reality, digital health functions in various settings. Participants will discuss how digital health interventions can help push the triple aim of Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Goal Development for more people at a lower cost in different settings in high-, low- and middle-income countries. The program discusses what kind of analysis should be done for developing digital health intervention, which stakeholders.

This module puts rights at the centre of SHRH: Organising Equitable Responses and builds on contemporary evidence to critically analyse effective responses across the constituent parts of the health system and beyond. Participants critically examine synergies and efficiencies, and the trade-offs that need to be made in the process of service strengthening within and beyond the domain of SRHR.

This Course in Impact Evaluations for Health Systems Strengthening course will equip you with advanced skills to evaluate health programmes and policies in global public health, with the ultimate aim of building strong and resilient health systems. The goal of this summer school Orthopedics and Trauma is to teach a yearly, English taught, 5-day program using a multidisciplinary approach on the subjects of orthopaedics, traumatology and sports medicine. The week consists of both an educational and social program. The summer school will be hosted by the University Medical Center Groningen and University of Groningen in collaboration with the departments of orthopaedics, sports medicine, trauma surgery, movement sciences and rehabilitation medicine.
