12 Music Performance Course Programs

All students enrolled in performing arts classes participate actively in classroom rehearsals and, in most cases, perform music and theatrical selections in public.

The Music Department has two main aims embracing both the academic and extra-curricular aspects of Music education. We want to make music as fun, inclusive and useful for our students as possible. Academically our aim is to prepare boys for GCSE and AS/A2 level Music (CCEA) and at the same time to nurture talent that will enable boys to participate fully in the activities we offer such as choirs, orchestras, chamber ensembles, Rock groups, Pipe Band and Jazz Band.

A major in Performance and Communication Arts will give you the tools to better understand and communicate with others, personally, professionally, and socially.

Music is both an art, engaging the creative impulse, and a science, involving analytical thinking. That makes it an ideal liberal arts major. At St. Lawrence, we emphasize the relationship between making and studying music.

The Vocal Performance department’s internationally renowned programme provides students with the artistic and academic skills to forge a singing career at the highest level. Headed by Jane Irwin, the syllabus benefits from the Head of the Department’s area of expertise, creating a nurturing environment that allows every student to discover their musical voice. Our department is ambitious on your behalf and seeks to find ways for you to discover and fulfil your potential as a singer and independent, distinctive artist. The department numbers around 100 first-study singers on BMus and MMus courses, with further singers taking the advanced Opera route.

The General Music Program at Brookside is built upon Orff-Schulwerk and Music Learning Theory. These philosophies include ways to teach and learn music. Natural childhood inclinations form the basis of activities, including songs, chants, rhymes, dances, movement, and developing beat awareness and competency. These instincts are directed into learning music by hearing and making music first - then reading and writing it later.

CSVPA Boston summer program offers one-week music intensive for students looking to enhance their musical knowledge and skills.

Music is an important part of life at the College. It is an inclusive activity and an academic subject throughout all years of the College, delivering the expertise of practicing professional musicians to hone the talents of the pupils from Reception to the Upper Sixth.

For young people in music, the IMEP teaching staff offers 30 years of experience in music education at young apprentices' service. The instruments offered are guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, saxophone, flute, violin, voice, trumpet, trombone, cello.

The Open Program exists since 2007. For amateurs who want to improve their instrument playing and useful fundamental musical skills such as ear training, solfege, and harmony. Our team of professors is made up of experienced instructors who understand the needs of each student.

This 8-week class focuses on the fundamentals and knowledge every DJ should have. Mechanics, proper technique, history and basic music theory are the emphases in these levels, ensuring that each student has the proper tools and knowledge as they begin their journey in becoming a DJ.

Learn to play guitar, and become the musician you've always wanted to be! In these fun and informative lessons, you'll build basic guitar skills step-by-step with the help of hands-on exercises, audio and video recordings, and detailed illustrations.
