10 Instrumental Music Course Programs

The General Music Program at Brookside is built upon Orff-Schulwerk and Music Learning Theory. These philosophies include ways to teach and learn music. Natural childhood inclinations form the basis of activities, including songs, chants, rhymes, dances, movement, and developing beat awareness and competency. These instincts are directed into learning music by hearing and making music first - then reading and writing it later.

Students’ development as musicians is dependent on perseverance, resilience, and reflection. They will have the opportunity to explore their identity and sense of belonging through individual and collective expression. The students will expand their worldview by being exposed to various genres of music from different times and cultures.

The goal of the course is to provide students with basic understanding of spectroscopic, chromatographic, electrometric, and thermal methods of analysis. Besides the lectures and experiments which cover the principles, instrumentations, and the strengths and limitations of these methods, the students are encouraged to explore the latest developments in instrumental analysis by giving presentations at the end of each semester. Also, the ingenious ideas which resulted in inventions and improvements of various instruments are emphasized in lectures to allow the students to appreciate the beauty of the course.

For young people in music, the IMEP teaching staff offers 30 years of experience in music education at young apprentices' service. The instruments offered are guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, saxophone, flute, violin, voice, trumpet, trombone, cello.

The Timpani and Percussion department is a close-knit and supportive environment where collaboration with your teachers and visiting professionals is prioritised. We offer a wide range of performing opportunities that are key in preparing you for a career in professional music. Our teaching staff are all top-level performers with considerable experience performing in the UK, Europe and further afield. You will receive 90-minute weekly lessons split between timpani and percussion. We have weekly orchestral repertoire classes, and everyone receives regular tuition in drum kit and Latin percussion with visiting lecturer Dave Hassell and in marimba playing with international marimba consultant Eric Sammut.

The Open Program exists since 2007. For amateurs who want to improve their instrument playing and useful fundamental musical skills such as ear training, solfege, and harmony. Our team of professors is made up of experienced instructors who understand the needs of each student.
