In MEDSKILL - Development of MEDical SKILLs by Simulation as of today, the need for practical skills and problem-solving capabilities remains largely unmet in many medical school curricula across Europe. Medical school education, in fact, remains largely anchored to a traditional paradigm of learning a discrete amount of information about pathophysiology principles and illnesses’ descriptions, without worrying about developing the skills necessary to work confidently "on the patient".

The goal of the Summer Schools is to teach a multidisciplinary approach to oncology to medical students before they enter the clinic. The first Summer School in Groningen was held in 1996 and in Vienna in 1999. Students that participated in the Summer schools have been extremely satisfied with the organisation, scientific content and topic range.

The goal of this summer school Orthopedics and Trauma is to teach a yearly, English taught, 5-day program using a multidisciplinary approach on the subjects of orthopaedics, traumatology and sports medicine. The week consists of both an educational and social program. The summer school will be hosted by the University Medical Center Groningen and University of Groningen in collaboration with the departments of orthopaedics, sports medicine, trauma surgery, movement sciences and rehabilitation medicine.

At the 2023 Transplantation Medicine Summer School (SSTX), participants can expect to learn about the latest innovations in the field of transplantation medicine. The SSTX will be full of fascinating presentations, fun workshops, and challenging assignments. Experts from all around the world will give lectures on the current advances and research in the field.
