The Health & Society Major is an interdisciplinary program for students interested in the practice and study of health in global and cultural contexts. The major includes courses spanning lab, behavioral, and social sciences, an ethics component, as well as a capstone course or project. The foundation courses include introductory, intermediate, and advanced level classes where students in this major come together in shared experience.

The Aging and Health Minor is designed for degree candidates from any college in the university who want to specialize in the gerontological aspects of their discipline or to understand the aging process more fully. It is a great addition for majors from nursing, biology, sociology, medical laboratory science, and psychology. The minor offers courses in: health promotion in adulthood

The Allied Health Scholars Program is perfect for students interested in an allied health career. The program enables students to grow and prepare for a field within the allied healthcare world and will help you succeed though professional experiences. The program will add further value to an exceptional Georgetown College liberal arts education.

This T Level in Health will give you knowledge and skills you need. It offers the perfect blend of theoretical study and hands-on work experience, with the opportunity to work on the frontline of the NHS and with local health and social care facilities and providers. The T Level in Health (Supporting the Adult Nursing Team) is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is a suitable course option if you are passionate about a career in the health sector, with a particular focus on supporting the adult nursing team. The T Level will combine classroom work with work experience placements across the 2-year course, developing core knowledge and relevant career specific skills. This ensures that you have the knowledge and skills needed to progress onto health-related university courses, apprenticeships or employment. We work closely with the local NHS trust in giving students valuable industry experience.

It encompasses a wide range of disciplines and approaches aimed at understanding health-related phenomena, promoting well-being, preventing diseases, and improving healthcare delivery. Here are some key points about Health Science as a field of study and practice: Interdisciplinary Nature: Health Science integrates knowledge and methodologies from multiple disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physiology, anatomy, psychology, sociology, public health, epidemiology, nutrition, and healthcare management. This interdisciplinary approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of health and disease.

Students graduating from our programs are educated to the highest standards within their chosen profession through both classroom and real-life settings. Hands-on experience in the field is a cornerstone of all our programs. Strong ties with professionals in our community exist because of the successes of former RMC interns. Student interns have been placed in health clubs, private physical therapy practices, athletic departments, hospitals, strength and conditioning departments and with semi-professional sports teams.

The major focus of studying Health Sciences involves the application of science to health-related topics such as medicine, nutrition, and environmental health. It involves applying scientific research to clinical practice to provide a background for students leading to improving healthcare for communities. This course will provide a foundational overview of the concepts of health, illness, and disease across cultures and historical periods, including Indigenous cultures. Current epidemiological terminology and strategies will be introduced. Students will examine the social determinants of health and how public policy is used to promote population health. Students will also have an opportunity to explore specific health issues, including ethical and moral considerations, and be provided with an overview of the Canadian health care system.

Students who are Health Science majors will learn to be an effective part of a healthcare team. The health science program includes biology, chemistry, psychology, and business coursework to serve as the foundation for further clinical training, which may result in certification or licensure as technicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists or technologists in specific areas of patient care.
