The Global Studies Minor (GSM) is an innovative, individualized, and interdisciplinary program which builds a formally recognized intercultural, globally-engaging experience into a student’s degree. Through the GSM, students examine pressing issues confronting today's world and relate them to the full range of their overall studies, personal interests, and future goals.

Our Academic Study Abroad Program (ASAP) is specifically designed for eligible international university-level students to enhance their educational experience by studying in ASAP for 1, 2 or 3 quarters. While in ASAP, students have the opportunity to enroll full-time alongside matriculated UC Irvine students in credit-bearing UC Irvine courses and UC Irvine Continuing Education courses. ASAP does not offer any course accommodations or application assistance related to students' admission to their future degree programs.

Dawson's Social Science Program has 11 social science disciplines and more than 150 teachers who are experts in their field. Students in General Studies forge their own academic path by selecting courses to suit their interests, satisfy their intellectual curiosity or take university prerequisites in biology and math (up to three courses). Students who are undecided about their future studies or career can explore the social sciences by taking introductory and enrichment courses in up to seven different disciplines. Participating in a Learning Community or taking a Certificate are additional ways a student can choose to enhance their learning.
