In WAT-CHANGE - Water-Related Ecosystem Services for Adapting Societies to Climate Change Seasonal School aims at introducing the participants to the new growing area of solutions provided by water-related ecosystem services. In particular, we will deal with nature-based solutions for water supply, treatment of polluted water, and flood risk mitigation such as managed aquifer recharge, river restoration, constructed wetlands, sustainable drainage systems, and remediation of contaminated sites using phytoremediation techniques.

The program offers three possible minors, ranging from 18-29 credits. The Environmental Policy Minor provides a look into the issues, policies, and laws regarding the environment. The Environmental Science Minor provides a foundation in the natural and physical sciences as they pertain to environmental studies. The Environmental Studies Minor combines a balance of both environmental science and policy. These minors are well-suited for students of any major, like business, communication, psychology, etc.

Our interdisciplinary Environmental Science major allows you to pursue your particular interests with two distinct tracks: Science and Environmental Policy. The major’s core courses, emphasizing the natural and physical sciences, provide a springboard from which you can select classes leading to multiple career paths in government, industry, research, and academia.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) is Lehigh’s home for teaching and research in the areas of ecology, environmental science, and geological sciences. A Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Environmental Geography is an undergraduate program that integrates the study of environmental science and geography. The Earth & Environmental Science Department houses three majors the Bachelor of Science in Earth Science; the Bachelor of Arts in Earth Science; and the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. Students in these majors learn how Earth and the environment have evolved and continue to evolve; how Earth systems, including human agents, interact to produce the environment in which we live; and how present and future changes may impact the habitability of Earth.

The Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) major is intended to train students in the environmental sciences, to pursue careers in academia, the public sector, or the private sector. The major can be pursued along two tracks: environmental physics and environmental chemistry. These tracks have separate course requirements and emphases, but at their hearts provide fundamental training in core scientific disciplines, with specialization in applications to the environmental and climate sciences. The two tracks share a sophomore year that continues the Core Curriculum's training in mathematics and physics. Each track requires a laboratory component and training in data analysis and statistics. All ESE majors must take three broad-based classes providing introductions to atmospheric and oceanic physics as well as marine and terrestrial biogeochemistry.

The Environmental Science program at Rocky Mountain College emphasizes interdisciplinary studies in the field and lab and a broad range of hands-on experiences. Classes are designed to include a wide variety of field-based, conservation-focused projects that allow our students to engage deeply in the theory and practice of environmental science and conservation biology. Students also gain extensive, hands-on experience with local flora and fauna and field survey techniques.

The need has never been greater for individuals who can address increasingly complex environmental issues. The Environmental Science and Policy (ES&P) Program seeks to produce future leaders with interdisciplinary analysis and problem-solving skills. ES&P majors work in teams to address sustainability projects on campus or with local community partners. During the summer as well as the academic year, students can conduct research with the ES&P program faculty whose work spans the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. During the summer, ES&P also supports students participating in the NOAA College-Supported Internship Program.
